Slightly off-topic, but If I Pay Thee Not in Gold by Piers Anthony and Mercedes Lackey (actually his idea but he didn't want to write it, so he asked his publisher to find an author to do it, and they referred him to Mercedes Lackey) is a world where only women have magic, and so it's totally matriarchal.

Why not? magic can do some pretty impressive things that earth technology can't, especially in the healing college. It'd be hard to argue that regrowing a limb or resurecting the dead isn't quite a bit more effective than earth technology.

Suspended Animation, then cut the patient open to remove the baby, cast Minor Healing to repair the damage, and finally Awaken to end the Suspended Animation spell.

Or, more simply, just use Ease Labor (GURPS Bio-Tech p 31), or Remove Fetus (GURPS Bio-Tech p 32) for a Caesarean birth.

What about Women in the Church. Not Nuns, but Bishops, Clerics & Holy Warriors.

Cheers

Well, I don't see a still-Medieval Church accepting Women in the clergy, but I did consider adapting Warrior Nuns to Yrth...

I always considered the social structures in mainstream Megalos, Cardiel, and the Muslim countries to be rather chauvinistic.

But not everyone is an adventurer! Adventurers don't even make up one percent of the population! The adventurer subculture is a different animal, a rather Bohemian society of it's own. So female adventurers don't get especially noticed by other adventurers or the bulk of persons they interact with.

In the culture at large, the adventurer subculture is known (or rumored) to be rather "loose" in regard to female roles, so a female adventurer would at worst get a -1 reaction from a real bigot ("Oh, one of those! No wonder.") to a +1 from a lover of novelty ("Oh my! How daring and exciting!").

That does not match my understanding. Given equal time and present training and nutritional methods, a women will not 'catch up' because while both can continue to grow their ST, baring unusual hormone treatments, the male will have a permanent and ongoing advantage.
