You can use a battery to make a charm I suppose - but I wouldn't let a battery make a battery. No. That's not in my write-up, but my pottery sense is tingling.

Gamemaster’s Guidepost: Words of Creation

Today is Patreon Day, the day where I say "Thank You!" to all my patrons for supporting my blog.

Today's blog post is a bit wordy, in fact, it's all about the words. Magic words. Words of Power. The very words that were spoken at the Beginning and will be spoke at the End. Some mages can harness these awesome powers and perform amazing feats of magic.

Allowing one battery per spell still effectively doubles the amount of energy a caster can employ.
It really helps to put non-Adepts more in the same league as Adepts.

I suppose so, but really Adepts and non-Adepts of the same point value will be pretty much in the same league. Non-Adepts will spend points in Path skills making them better at large spells - if slow. Adepts just seem better because they can cast spells in a quick amount of time relative to a player's point of view.

And batteries allow non-Adepts to cast strong spells quickly. But I like it as allowing mid-range speed casting.

Sure, yeah, I can see that.

I wrote up a version of power stones that required an object, required the ritual paths used to be specified at the time of creation, stored half the energy put in and took up two charm slots.

Your version does feel a lot more like the original power stones. Though in all the ways I find most annoying.

I think my initial impulse would be to make them in between his and yours.
Maybe each Battery must be Path specific. If a spell uses 2 Paths, then it can only supply up to half the energy required.
No more than one Battery per spell, and no using one to make another more powerful Battery.

Well...I was trying to simulate them. So that's a good thing in my book. That said, I like raw magic for my "powerstones" - it makes more sense to my view of magic.

I admit, aside from the one aspect I mentioned, these items seem very hugely removed from Powerstones, I wouldn't for instance call them RPM Powerstones if I used them in game because the dissonance from the name would be to great

For a powerstone to be a powerstone to me, first and foremost they need to be reusable . . . these aren't. They might well be a variant of RPM Manastone I could see.
