winning level with bard abillity

Ok, here is the thing. We are playing epic munchkin. One player is a level 18 bard. He is fighting 3 monsters ( two monsters give 1 level each, the other one gives 2 levels, 4 levesl in total -one is a wondering moster- ). The bard uses his ability to force another player to help him in the combat. With that help he would win the combat, therefore all 4 levels, winning the game ( winning level ).

The thing is, how would this situation be solved?

the possible solutions that we came up with are:
1)the bard wins the combat, takes the trasures, but gains no levels.
2)the bard wins the combat, takes the trasuers and goes up to level 19.
3)the bard cannot force anyone to help him, becouse it would be in conflict with the bard ability ( cannot win the winning level using that power)

Option 3 is the correct one.

He can't use his ability because the fight would be for the win.

Here's one of the places where it was officially ruled in the way that DoomedDuck and I described as well.

You can not use the ability at all if you would win the game by using the ability, so 3). The same for any other card or ability that says it can't be used to get the winning Level.

This rule is same for all cards with same ability? Can Sheriff ask Deputy for help in combat for winning level? Can I get a helper with bookmark "Munchkin spell school" in combat for winning level? Card and bookmark doesn't say that it can't be used to get the winning level, but the ability is almost same.
