Default Deliberately not Running Away

The FAQ is slightly unclear on this as it only speaks about death:

Quote:
Your character does not want to die. Your character will always TRY to Run Away. If you want to die, hope for a bad die roll.
OK, so my character is deathly afraid of dying, but is he also deathly afraid of other bad stuff, like loosing items/levels? (Well, he is a munchkin so it would make sense...)

If I'm level 1 and kick down the door to find Frank the Tank, can I let him take my stuff and boost my level to 3, or do I still need to run from him and potentially escape?

If you cannot defeat the monster, you must always try to Run Away. You cannot decide to take the Bad Stuff without rolling.

I kinda figured, but it seemed like a good idea to be certain of it, especially since I have one of the few monsters where it could be an issue.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!
