Apocalypse: What happens if a level 1 Kid dies?

Kids Immortality ability makes it so that they can never be eaten by monsters. Any "Death" result becomes "Lose a level."

Two questions:

1. What if a level 1 Kid fails to run away against a monster with death. Since he can't "Lose a level" does he then die, or does he luck out and suffer no consequences?

2. Does the Any "Death" result becomes "Lose a level" extend to curses, etc... or only monsters (since it says can never get eaten by monsters.)

1. He lucks out. Nothing happens.

Bear in mind, the rules do say that if a Bad Stuff or Curse effect doesn't affect you, you got off lucky. If a Curse or Bad Stuff doesn't offer an alternative, or provide a specific instruction on what to do if the effect has no functional usefulness against the player it is affecting, it's not intended that the players have to invent some compromise.
