[Bio-Tech/Magic/Ultra-Tech] How to stat this?
Okay, so I'm working on this idea for a magical chemical weapon, named Hell Frozen Rain.
The idea is, it's a rust red alchemical liquid that is sprayed over an area (hence the 'rain' part) and those exposed to it (skin contact) who also have Magery will suffer significant injury, awful hallucinations and go into a mindless berserker rage for a short while. The liquid is activated as it is sprayed and will go inert four hours afterward, then quickly evaporate into nothingness. What kind of stats and costs is that? Might need to read B425?

When you say "injury", what were you thinking for the visual/effect? Would it be an acid eating away at the skin (corrosive), as if on fire turning the skin to black charcoal/ash (burning), the skin and muscle underneath dying and falling off (toxic), or something else?

Internal damage - bleeding from the mouth, nose, ears, etc. So...toxic?

Re: [Bio-Tech/Magic/Ultra-Tech] How to stat this?
So if it's an innate power it's a Toxic attack, with Contact Agent, Area Effect, Cyclic, Side Effects (Hallucinations/Berserker), and Accessibility (Only on mages). The value of that last one depends on how common mages are in the setting - there are guidelines for that with the description of Accessibility, I think. Or you can link Afflictions with the Hallucinations/Berserking, if you'd rather.
Of course, describing it as a chemical weapon suggests it's more like napalm than dragon's breath - if you want it to be commercially available just slap a price on it and let the characters buy it, and never mind with the build. |
