P Is for Pirouette

Anton Petrovitch was born in Moscow in the 1870s and due to his natural talent became a famous ballet dancer. By the time of the Osnabrück incident Anton's life had seen many ups and downs that resulted in him being involved in the transportation of the surviving members of Operation Cape out of Germany. Acting under orders he stole one of the samples the allies had acquired. In the process he inadvertently exposed himself to the compound. The next morning he woke up forty-five years younger and with physical abilities that defied rational explanation. He was then taken to an undisclosed location for "testing" it was here that the scientists discovered he could heal quickly from any injury and had a remarkable tolerance for pain. Sometime later Anton resurfaced in Stalingrad where he was famously photographed performing a pirouette on the barrel of a destroyed German tank. This feat earned him his popular moniker.

Powers
- Incredibly agile and co-ordinated
- As strong as ten men
- Incredibly fast healing, has survived injuries that would definately have instantly killed a normal person.

Weaknesses
- has suffered through many procedures "for the greater good"

Q is for Queen Ophidia

A reptile with mammalian characteristics or vice versa Queen Ophidia is the leader of a secret society of serpent people who plots to lead her people out of their subterranean realm and conquer the lesser people of the surface world. In the meantime her operations tend to consist of trying to steal the most advanced technology of the surface world from both sides of the conflict since her forces are a wee bit under-equipped and outnumbered for her ambitions.

Her powers are magic and strongest in the area of illusions and mind influence (control of reptiles and part-reptiles especially) although she can also create force shields and blasts of energy when her tricks fail thanks to her magic scepter. She's also quite good at plot device magic rituals that take a long time to cast, require the "stars to be right", and produce large scale effects. Also she has a small army of soldiers and undercover agents who can disguise themselves using magic.

R is for Radon

Fearing the proliferation of Atomkreiger while the Allied supply of superhumans remained limited, the Allies have rushed to reverse-engineer or duplicate the process. Their closest thing to a success so far is Radon, a coherent cloud of radioactive gas with eyes that glow Cherenkov blue.

Radon was once Sergeant Wallace Washington, who is now listed as KIA; his current existence is classified at the highest levels. He is used as a terror weapon, operating alone behind enemy lines to wreak havoc. He is cut off from the world and deeply traumatized by his current state. His friendship with Flygirl (one of the few people who can remain in his presence any length of time) is his sole remaining lifeline to his rapidly fading sense of humanity.

Powers:
Radon's presence lethally irradiates any living things within a ten foot radius. He can hurl focused blasts of radioactive particles out to pistol ranges. He is impervious to most sorts of weapons and no longer needs food or water. He can pass through any surface that is not airtight and any size opening.

Weaknesses:
Radon has no more capacity to interact with the world than a stiff breeze. He can't move very fast, and will be blown of course by high winds. his voice is a permanent whisper. Also, he kills anyone who come close to him.

S is for Strega.

Italy also being part of the war, they also had their own superhumans. Notably among them was Strega, who had the power of the evil eye, able to curse anyone she stared at. Initially the victim was stunned with an overwhelming sensation of dread, but then suffered misfortune for hours afterward. Her weakness is she tends to go down with one punch having no defense beyond her victim's disablement.

T is for The Tiger of Tsingtao

An enormous tiger stalks the streets of occupied Tsingtao, mauling Japanese patrols and assassinating offcials of the occupation government. The beast has been shot repeatedly, but the blood trail always simply ends somewhere, and when next it returns it is whole and healthy.

The tiger is actually a woman named Jin Tian, who sells dumplings from a small cart. Her family have been weretigers for centuries, living quietly in the backcountry of Shandong until their village was bombed into oblivion by the invading army. She went to the city to make a living and take some revenge.


Powers:
Jin Tian can turn into a tiger and back at will. Any injuries are healed completely when she changes form.

Weaknesses:
She is no more resilient than an ordinary human or tiger, depending on form. She's gotten lucky so far that none of the wounds she's taken as a tiger killed her before she could get somewhere secluded to change back.

U is for the Unseen menace

After the attack on Pearl Harbour people of Japanese descent in the U.S. were placed in internment camps. One of the people was a young man named Luke Tanaka. While Luke was detained his friendship was sought by an Imperial Japanese agent who thought Luke's more european appearance would be a useful trait for intelligence work. Luke was reticent at first but following the death of one of his family members he became more open to the agent's influence. The agent was desperate to escape the camp to pass on a stolen sample of Flygirl's blood. Luke was intensely instructed in stealth and analytical thinking to prepare for the escape attempt. During the escape the agent was killed and Luke strove to continue the escape but fell breaking the vial holding the sample and driving the shards into hand. Luke's next escape attempt was far more successful after he discovered he could turn objects and people invisible.

Now posters are being put up in police stations and military posts telling people to "Beware the Unseen Menace!" and "report suspicious events to the FBI"

Powers
- Can make objects invisible
- Can make people Invisible, including himself.
- Can operate in a heightened analytical thought mode.

Weaknesses
- Can't make himself invisible to large groups of people.
- Operating without support.

Alan Moore tells me that V is for Vendetta. Vendetta was Murder Incorporated's most dangerous and capable killer who got in on the costumed villain racket early until he was eventually brought to justice...from the hospital he was left in by a vigilante who didn't...quite...kill him. He stayed in prison until he managed to offer his exceptional talents as a killer to the United States military and they took him up on the offer, using him as a OSS agent until he goes after Masque de Fer, who apparently kills him. It is a mystery whether the Vendetta who goes back into work as a contract killer later is the same guy, back from the dead or just a copycat.

His "powers" during the war consist of nothing more than really good gun fu (able to effectively use two guns at once), excellent night vision, a supernatural sense for danger, and an odd ability to make his face unseeable as long as he's wearing a hat.

W is for Wargrave

Wargrave is the product of a misfired spell cast by a German necromancer. He attempted to raise a mass grave of corpses as zombie soldiers under his control, but instead got a single uncontrollable undead British soldier who is nearly unstoppable.

Wargrave is actually pretty normal looking apart from the slightly greyish pallor of his and his unhealing chest wound, but has no need to breathe, drink or eat. He magically heals back from any injury provided that he (or any part of his dismembered corpse) is in the vicinity of dead human bodies. He can see, communicate with and touch ghosts. Other than that, he has the abilities of a very good soldier. As a supernatural entity he has various occult weaknesses including being trappable in pentagrams and taking extra damage from silver weapons.

X is for, well X

Johan Mayer suffered from the ravages of polio as a child. Ever since then he has deliberately worked far harder than those around him to compensate. Treating his own body with some scorn he focused on developing his intellect and people skills. His skills and his level of drive saw him recruited to manage the scientists at Osnabrück. After the incident Johan was somewhat irked that his body was as it had always been. It was not until much later that he discovered he could read the minds of people who had been dosed with a particular variant of the Atomkriegger compound regardless of distance.
When it was decided to put his ability to use for the good of the fatherland he was sent to North Africa.

The allied operation "Agreement" saw a mixture of German speaking Jews, SAS, Rhodesian and New Zealand forces carry out an attack on Tobruk. Nine of the allied soldiers who were captured during this operation were given a minute dose of the modified Atomkriegger compound and allowed to escape.

Several hours later Johan used his ability to see what his unwitting spies where up to. At that moment they were all together in the back of a stolen German truck. Moments after that a bomb instantly killed all those aboard the truck. Johan ceased to exist at that moment as well. Replaced by a new being whose mind was made up of the sum total of the knowledge, personality and experiences of the ten linked minds. This being was more allied than axis so it made its way back to England and sought out MI6. As this organisation already had a "C" and a "Q" there was little hassle when they added an "X" to their payroll.

Powers
- A very wide range of skills, talents and other advantages.
- Can handle ten times the damage required to kill a normal human.
- Ten times the lifespan of a normal human.
- Can shift between ten different appearances/bodies.
- The lingering effects of Johan's mental abilities have granted X the ability to tell with great detail how much of the truth anyone he is talking to is telling.

Weaknesses
- While opposed to the Nazi's has his own agenda.
- Socially cold, normal humans are somewhat alien to him.
