Default Multiple Levels for Multiple Monsters

If you are fighting a monster and someone plays a Wondering Monster card and brings a second monster to the fight, if you defeat both monters, do you gain two levels, one for each monster, or just one? Do you also get both treasures? The Mate card does say that if you play it you do gain double treasure and and extra level, but not sure about the Wondering Monster.

Yes. If you defeat all the monsters in battle you receive all the levels and treasures listed on the monster cards (adjusting for any additional or fewer treasures from monster enhancers, etc).

And remember, it is well within the rules to play a wandering monster into your own combat :)
So if you are a level 2 munchkin with a total combat bonus of 12 (say two weapons (+2 & +3) and a helmet (+3) and shoes(+2) ),

Then you open the door and are attacked by a level 4 monster with 1 treasure, which you are beating by 8 ~ then you can use a wandering monster to add a level 2 monster with 1 treasure to the combat so that you are fighting a combined (level 2 + level 4) level 6 with 2 treasures (1 from each)

~ IF no one interferes with the combat, then you beat both monsters with your 12 combat total to their 6 combat total (combined), and get two treasures and two levels.. Not a bad plan, just make sure that both monsters have "weak" bad stuff ;)

The Mate card adds a Monster, but one might feel inclined to treat it as a Monster Enhancer, so there's text on the card that says you get more Treasure (and Levels, too), all based on the Monster that was duplicated. Wandering Monster also brings another Monster into the combat, but that Monster has its own card to define how many Levels and how much Treasure you get for killing it. So, if you're fighting multiple Monsters, you get the Levels and Treasure for each one you kill (by beating it with your combat strength), just as the rules describe what happens when you kill a Monster.
