Use of Mate card
We are new to Munchkin Quest and played our first game recently. We had the Scary Clowns monster card in the game and I had a sword (Snickersnee) in one hand that stated it instantly defeats these Clowns. So I thought - what the heck - and I threw all my monster bonus cards on the Scary Clowns making them hairy and all sorts of other things including very powerful. I figured I would defeat them anyway with my sword and this way I would get the benefit of extra treasures. Then I played the Mate card on it - which if I understand correctly - duplicates not just the monster card but all adjustment cards currently in play on that monster. Then I entered the room with the Clowns and used my sword - which we assumed defeated both the Clowns AND its mate. (I got two levels and 12 treasure for this). We just wanted to make sure we understood and played the rules correctly. Seems like I got a lot of treasure - I ended up winning the game a couple of turns later.

Re: Use of Mate card
That is an extraordinarily munchkinly play, and I salute you for it. Yes, you did it exactly right.
