Solomon Ulrich Perman - "Sol" to his family and associates - has problems (more than just his name, although that doesn't help). He is a socially awkward teenager ... nerd doesn't even begin to cover it. He is the very essence of Nebbish, including thick glasses and pocket protector. Sol is nervous, has panic attacks, and gets nauseated easily.

Then his life took an abrupt turn to the left when someone (he never found out who) decided to spike his chocolate milk with a designer drug. He woke up four days later in a ruined old house in the middle of nowhere. He was in the middle of a magic circle - oh and he was dead. He found this upsetting, but not as much as he thought. He eventually wandered out of the house and into the woods and while trying to figure things out, he talked to himself and accidentally said the Magic Word and changed back to a living person. Then he had a panic attack and ran around at random. He never could find the house again.

Since that time, Solomon has found himself in supernatural "adventures" (or as he calls them, "problems"). On the plus side, he has a number of supernatural mutations, many of them quite beneficial. On the negative side he turns into a decomposing zombie whenever he says the word "Brains" and has a tendency to attract outre situations.

Sol is quite bright and has a talent for mystical affairs. Physically, though, he is pathetic. Emotionally, he simply is not suited for the life of an adventurer. But his abilities tend to drag him into situations that Nerds Were Not Meant To Know.

Powers: In his human form, Sol has an array of supernatural perceptions allowing him to detect spirits and the undead. He also has physical abilities that amount to near-immortality. His most demonstrative ability is the power to become a zombie when he says the word "Brains".

In his undead form, he's a shambling smelly mass of rotten flesh that gives people horrid diseases. In his undead form Sol has no sense of touch, his emotions are warped, and his ability to comprehend the world is badly scrambled. But as a positive, when he is in his undead form, damage to his living body heals super-fast, and vice versa.

NOTE: The first write-up had Sol's living form completely powerless, and thus had a cost of under 40 points. I had to pad Sol up a LOT to get him to 250 points, and it took a while to both buff him and keep the "absolute nerd" character concept I wanted.

Hanna Jennkins is a nebbishy tween girl who has the power of flight, the ability to shoot force blasts from her eyes, and a decent force field based DR. Unfortunately she also has crippling social anxiety, agoraphobia, and total pacifism.

She has one additional power - she can transform within a coruscating whirlwind of sparks into a willowy crystal clad princess in an decoratively armored ballet outfit called Opal. Opal is self confident, brave, and assertive, but has no superpowers.

Presumably someone messed up in the Magical Girl Planning Department.

One of the issues with Solomon's ability is that Takes Recharge requires recharging after every use or minute of use, so he can only be a zombie for a minute every hour, which means that Reciprocal Rest is a rather worthless enhancement.

A more interesting version would be Alternate Form (0 CP Zombie; Once On, Always On, 50%; Non-Reciprocal Damage,+50%; Reduced Time 3, +60%; Reflexive, +40%) [45]. It would allow him to instantly transform and, more importantly, transform outside of turn order. You would have to redesign the rest of the character though.

Sol's current work-up is a compromise. I wanted him to be a lot less capable, but I had to boost him up to make him a 250-point character. No problem with a redesign.

Couple more things I don't understand about this alternate form zombie thing.
Why do they both have Regeneration and Regrowth? It's not part of the human racial template, so the zombie form has it twice.
Also, what good is it for the zombie? It has Unhealing (Partial) but is just not being the active form a rare condition? What about the fact that according to the Basic, you just can't have Regeneration if you have Unhealing? No issue on Regrowth apparently.

The Rocky Mountain Roller Dolls: A powered duo who like to play off their mercenary sense of loyalty as dramatic face/heel turns. Both women are exceptionally skilled roller derby performers and street brawlers, and are not made of flesh (mad scientist creator, you know how that goes). Barbie is high impact plastic, while Anne is stuffed cloth, with all the immunities and vulnerabilities of their material, and otherwise unremarkable physically.

Both have the trait for the same reason the Alternate Form has Reciprocal Rest. One form heals while the other one is active.

Example 1: Zombie Sol gets his legs whacked off. He has Unhealing, so if Sol remains in Zombie Form he will be legless forever. But when Sol changes back to human, the Regeneration and Regrowth kick in, Sol has a couple of days off, and when he changes back, Zombie Sol has two good legs.

Example 2: Human Sol gets his ass kicked by school bullies, his HP gets reduced to 3. He has normal human healing and HT 10, so he's going to be laid up a while. But circumstances force him to become a Zombie for half a day or so. His human form Regeneration kicks in, and when he changes back to human, Sol will be fully healed.

Note that using his Regeneration on one form forces Sol to stay in the other form for several hours at least. So that means he either has to shamble around as a mass of rotting undead flesh, or be in a human form in a world where undead horrors exist. Heh-heh.

The Unhealing Disadvantage is the Partial version, which is interpreted as a version of unhealing that has an exception. In this case, the Unhealing only applies when in Zombie Form. If Zombie Sol lacked Unhealing, he would heal at the normal human rate all the time, which means he wouldn't be Undead since by definition Zombies Don't Heal.

And still no one comments about Sol's name ...
