Fwiw, $26 in duties on that 'un.
Glad to say that Pegasus managed it all nicely for the UK. Munchkin Shakespeare and DFRPG arrived the same day, no duties, no problems.

There can be a substantial difference in Canadian duties depending on if something is considered books, a board game or toy of some kind, parts for a game or toy, or art.

RPGs and their constituent bits are not in the legal definitions for any of those things, so it often depends on what the customs agent sees when they look in the package, or what the person carrying it across the border explains it as.

I brought my (heavy!) box of Dwarven Forge tiles across the border with minimal taxes after I had a long conversation with the agent and he decided they were best categorized as display dioramas for miniatures (as in statues). He called them "art" I think.

A big box of RPG books from GenCon were waved across, no taxes, once they confirmed that none of this fantasy stuff was porn. The sword we were bringing back didn't even register?

On the other hand, I had a box with miniature kits that needed assembly, two boxes of glass bead counters, and a tube of dice get labeled "machine parts", and I had to pay tax. Still not quite sure what happened there. EDIT: I mean, I know what happened, my package took a detour from Austin through Sweeden back to New York and then into Canada, and basically the customs waybill took a round trip back and forth through Google Translate.

Kromm, I bet you're looking forward to finding out what's in it!

Re: duties at the border, back when I lived in BC, about 1.5-2 hours from the border, a friend in town had a PO box in Blaine, Washington right across the border. She used that as a destination for US shipping, and would head down every month or so to pick things up.

(My wife and I ended up heading down into Washington about once every couple of months for one reason or another.)

I don't remember ever really having any hassle at the border driving through. There was some standard allowance for groceries and purchases, I think; it's been a few years now, so memory fades.

I'm still waiting for Canada to build a wall on their southern border....

So, someone in my city has received his boxes, and I haven't even got a shipping notification. Our last names are similarly positioned in the alphabet, and my first name comes before his, so I'm assuming the orders aren't being processed by order of name.

Right now I just have a bad case of the impatient wiggles. When should I actually be concerned?

Is there any update on shipping to Australia?

Just wanted to put it out here that SJG sorted this out very promptly, and I got my box on Wednesday.

So have I got this right? It’s shipped to the shops before it’s gone out to all the backers.

It has shipped to stores before it _reached_ all backers. We have shipped everything, but some international deliveries take a long time.
