I’m pretty sure diffuse doesn’t mean that stuff passes right through, though. You can grapple diffuse targets, right? You can catch them in a net?

Let’s call him “the wind knight”, a diffuse knight wearing epic plate. He’s an actual (rumoured, but I trust our skill rolls) dungeon boss in Stripe’s campaign.

You cannot grapple or slam diffuse targets.

Exploits p 55 says nets and mattresses are diffuse. You can grapple a net, and grapple or slam a mattress

Monsters p10 says you cannot slam or grapple a diffuse target. Presumably specific examples can be exceptions.

So? The rule about targets with less than DR 3 still applies.

Then the grenade shatters on his armor and he takes damage.

Every mention of diffuse references DFM55, but some (not all) of the rules for it are only on DFM10. I don’t love this...

Also, I find it super funny that as written, you can grapple swarms. (DFM8 says “as if it were diffuse”, which therefore apparently it’s not. This is mostly a joke, as the Swarm monster’s description description states it is diffuse).

I can't find a PDF of that title with 55 pages.

The only relevant one (the only book with that title in the box) has 112 pages and the text about nets and mattresses is there on p. 55 (Damage to Objects, third paragraph).

Most mattresses and nets probably have DR <3, though and so bounce grenades.

I don't own the box set myself, but I did finally notice that one of the illos showed part of a book called "-OITS."

It seems kind of odd for mattresses to be diffuse. Does DFRPG not have the concept of flexible DR?

No, it does not. DR has been 'simplified'* by it's removal for DFRPG.

* I put that in quotes because I actually find DFRPG to be harder to 'properly' run because so much is missing from the way I run DF...
