Hi Ken,

Special thanks for all your assistance and work so far on this, really much appreciated. I shall see what I can get sorted out for you on the graphics front. The collated document is looking good.

I'll be busy over the weekend, but hope to get back to you as soon as possible, if that's OK?

7th Insider Briefing - Vehicles

“Archangel” Class GEV-MCP

At the end of the 20th century, the Russians had produced one of the largest GEV units ever built with their ‘Zubr’ class landing craft. With the export of this type to the Greek & Ukrainian Navies and later service throughout the Black Sea, Aegean Sea and Easter Mediterranean, it was no surprise to see Pan-European designers refine the class even further in the first-half of the twenty-first century.

The end result was the “Archangel” class of GEV Mobile Command Post assets, designed for service over desert, sea, land or Arctic pack ice. With a large chassis and powerplants, lightly armed and armoured, it keeps pace with GEV-PCs and Hover Trucks, over land or water.

Its forte lies in the wide array of computers and comms kit carried and the inherent portage of the command element of any headquarters using these vehicles. It can also carry three squads of infantry inside – see rules for GEV-PCs & Hover Trucks.

Specifications
Size: 5 (SHVY Tank) Same ram damage as SHVY, see Size Table, p. 14)
Attack: 1 / Range: 1
Defence Strength: 1
Movement: 3 / 2
Anti-Personnel Wpns: 2

As a MCP (Mobile Command Post) this unit provides a conventional force with the ability to have its Command Headquarters able to relocate from the attacks of similar conventional forces or cybernetic units. At all times, this unit follows the movement benefits and restrictions of GEV vehicles.

'Archangel' GEV-MCPs known to be in service:

'Michael' - PanEuropean
'Jean' - PanEuropean
'Raphael' - Combine (ex-PanEuropean, captured & returned to service)
'Uriel' - Black Rose Mercenaries & affiliated forces
'Gabriel' - Black Rose Mercenaries & affiliated forces
'Azazel' - unknown ownership

“Rabbit” Class Hover Truck

The Rabbit was the go-to light logistic low-cost vehicle for quick supply runs. Essentially a civilian model made fit for rugged military service, the Rabbit benefits from secure cargo pods that have proven useful for carrying dangerous goods.

It can keep pace with GEV-PCs and carry a Guard Squad to escort the pod.

Specifications
Size: 1
Defence Strength: 1
Movement: 3 / 2
Unarmed

Hi Sir Pudding,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - real-life stuff been taking priority these past few weeks.

AU. I am afraid you will have to enlighten me further please? Anything to do with Mr Cobb's calculations maybe?

In other news, Waylands have a re-stock of counter sheets:

And we also have had some discussions on some promotional and competition ideas too. More news on all that soon.

AU - Armor Unit, or Armour Unit.

This is a departure from the established game mechanic for ramming with a GEV (6.07.3). Are you sure making it like a SHVY is how it should work? Sure, it's big; but it's still a GEV.

Hi GP (comms now re-established),

This was the instruction from up-on-high and I certainly didn't want to argue. It sort of makes sense to me I will say.

The GEV-MCP as a ramming beast (potentially)? But then again, it doesn't have anything like the offensive weaponry (1/1 and 2 AP) to be a dangerous mobile attack asset. And the defence (D1) does make ramming a Last Resort.

(A D5 - like a real SHVY - and it could be a SuperDuperDumpTruck!)

Sadly I see Sir Pudding is no longer present (or is he?)

So for AU equivalence, as this is a CP and a fairly large vehicle, and so if SHVYs and MHWZs count as 2 AU, I would propose the GEV-MCP is 3 AU at least. You could even justify 4 AU if you also add the 3 INF it can carry as well.

Thanks Woodchuck - I won't ask the whys & wherefores :-)

Now reviewing and overhauling some of the earlier ideas on scenario designs. It's good to see that the main Ogre Scenario activity taking place now (5 scenarios up as I type this) but that has delayed our own progress a little bit. After all, we didn't want to duplicate or contradict anything of theirs.

More news soon, and some more pix uploaded on the sheet's webpage in BGG too.
