Default [Magic] Enchanting A Better Bra

Some people are probably going to crucify me for bringing this topic up, but I like to here people's thoughts on my my thoughts about what's possible within the rules provided in Magic, what might be possible, and what would probably be the best solution.

So first up, two defiantly do-able options:
Bra Of Holding: A play on the Bag of Holding, this is a bra where the cups have been Enchanted with Hideaway, resulting the the wearer breasts being put into some sort of extra dimensional space when worn, this means there is no weight on the chest, but they provide no support (probably resulting in sagging sooner) and the wearer will not have breasts when worn.

Bra Of Lightness: Lighten Burden Enchanted on the cups of a bra, reducing weight by up to half, with the possibly annoying side effect that they increase bounciness/jiggling.

These two options have some shared drawbacks: They only effect what's actually in the cups of the bra, meaning that showing any cleavage reduces their effectiveness; And they are only a single bra, this means that should you want to want to wear a different bra, or not wear a bra all (swimsuit, for example), you lose the effect, if you grow or change size/shape you need to replace with (Adjustable Clothing not withstanding) and um, it's only a single bra, hope you don't want to change it.

The Chainmail Bikini in Magic Items 2 suggests that it might be possible to make an item that creates a force field bra, very supportive, wouldn't do anything for back pain, and may well be uncomfortable to wear given how unyielding it would be.

My personal favorite: A nipple piercing/ring or clamp that reduces the weight of the wearer breasts, suffers the same bounciness/jiggling issue as the Bra Of Lightness, but without the other problems. Might be doable with a variant of Levitation, which has a second, unknown enchantment option at this time, likely one that permanently effects an object.

So what do people think? Which one is your favorite? Or do you have another suggestion.

For those wondering why I came up with this, I was doing some mental work on consumer enchantments, in particular minor ones.

The amount of eventual sagging may depend on whether the space they're put in has gravity or not, and how big that space is (if it's just big enough for the material that fills it, it could still provide support if there's gravity to support against).

This amusing subject certainly got me tittering, but as for useful contributions, I'm a bust.

Alright. Here's the obvious one:

Bra of Enlargement/Shrinkage: Enlarge/Shrink Other (or would it be Enlarge Object?) enchanted on both cups of the bra, increasing breast size by a size modifier specified by the enchanter. The variant Bra of Permanent Enlargement/Shrinkage makes effects permanent after being worn for 100 hours. Unfortunately, the mage working on this was killed by the Duke after it was discovered he enchanted a cursed codpiece.

There is a character in the webcomic Twokinds who has a bra of holding (actually more like chest wraps of holding, but same idea). He uses it because he’s transexual and views himself as a man, even though he’s biologically female.

Could be combined with an illusion spell that makes it look like they're still there, but still immune to being targeted.

Keep in mind "contents vanish forever if the object is destroyed" though. That's no fun if you're a person (or part of a person) inside one. You'll definitely want to add as much DR as possible (M66 Fortify) to your HA.

Too bad M67 "Lighten" only works on objects... actually M143 "Lighten Burden" is also only for equipment, not body parts...

Either would be valuable if you wanted to make a "6 inch thick steel bra" though, which would be really important IMO to avoid destruction because as above, you don't want the "contents vanish forever" to happen when any part of you is inside a Hideaway. This would be of similar concern if enchanting a codpiece.

Levitation (M143) works on living beings. I don't think it would be unreasonable to allow mages to specify less than 80 pound increments for the purpose of simply having weight apply to a being less rather than actually lifting them in the air.

IE "1 pound levitation" (still minimum 2 energy to cast) to make someone's hair stick up. Apportation (M142) would probably be the cheaper route though, but some people might have Levitation bought up to a higher skill than it's prereq.

Same option might apply to Flight (M145) or Hawk Flight (M146). If GM says flight must be "all or nothing" (ie "can't just enchant your hair/breasts to defy gravity") it might require using optional enhancement rules (skill penalty, more FP) to get stuff like 'Selective Effect' ?

One idea I had is to use "Dancing Object" (M144) on the bra. The "repetetive work" you designate could be "hold things up" and since it allows objects to move through the air (ie sweeping broom) you basically wouldn't need to strap the bra to your body.

Pull (M146) could also be useful here. If you just put in 1 energy to get 2 ST of pull (could probably allow option to make that merely 1 ST of pull if you don't want 2 ST worth) then make that point above you, it could pull stuff like hair/necklaces/breasts upward without being enough to lift you off the ground.

Repel (M147) below your breasts could have a similar effect.

Biggest prob with those two is it being a fixed point, and I don't know if there's a way to change that so it's movable. Of course you might just enjoy having a "lightweight area" so it's like your breasts (and head) weigh less as you walk down a hallway with these enchantments.

I could be misreading how Pull/Repel work. It mentions a contest of ST to resist being pulled, but it sounds liek that might be whole-beings only... I envision this as resisting on a horizantal (lean toward/away by shifting weight) rather than vertical plane though. Unless you had something anchored to hang on to, I don't see how your ST could resist a pulling forced directly above. Hard to say though, maybe it's literal TK to wrestle with...

Freedom (M148) is probably also helpful for garment/armor penalty problems.

Certainly the most obvious. The more useful one would be a bra with Adjustable Clothing on it, to make a one-size-fits-all bra that actually fits perfectly, a rare property for a bra.

I think Natani's breast bindings are supposed to be mundane, even if their effects are a bit on the cinematic side (given Natani's large... tracts of land). The webcomic By the Book (which I won't link, as it's frequently a bit NSFW, including the relevant page) plays a bit with the idea of a Bra of Holding. Specifically, one of the characters mentions that a lot of female warriors use such an enchantment on their armor, which led one of the main characters, Rath, to conclude all such armors must connect to the same pocket dimension, and it is his duty to find it. For Reasons.

The magic item system in my Oubliette DF setting would allow for something like a Bra of Holding. It would be a modification of the sort of enchantment that lets one store a sword in a ring. It's not something I intended for the enchantment to be used for, but I see no reason why it couldn't. A bra that had more general-use enchantments on it, like the ability to fly, would also be an option, but would use up one of the character's magic item "slots" - specifically, the Torso - so it would just serve as a sort of protected magic item rather than allowing for an additional one.

Well it would definitely have a market. My wife had breast reduction surgery because hers caused significant pain due to their size.

Slightly off topic, but a Gadgeteer PC in my Supers campaign did this technologically. She made herself stinkin' rich by using her force-field technology to create a perfectly customizable and comfortable bra.
