Default Other games OGRE boards could be used for?

Has anyone got any suggestions as to other games that would be compatible with the OGRE mats/boards/maps?

I mean, obviously I want to play OGRE on them, it's just that since I have all of the boards and they take up quite a bit of space it would be nice to know if anyone has any suggestions for other things to do with them. :)

Has anyone done, for example, Battletech?

They're the right size, you could use them for Battletech. The kicker is going to be mapping the terrain types...how do you denote heavy vs light woods, how do you denote elevation, things like that.

Just don't. Treat all woods as Light, no hills, and water is all Depth 1. BattleTech has too many damn terrain types anyway.

Yet another time I wish this forum had a "Like" button option.

I admit it, I laughed.

Going the opposite direction, I've got the first 40-odd ASL maps, and the eight D-ASL maps ... haven't really used them yet though with Ogre.

In the wayback, when I was in grade school/junior high and had an extensive game collection and tons of time on my hands, I played around with the idea of adapting ASL game maps to Battlesuit....

<- wonders if he should mention his notion of a crossover game for _OGRE_, _Starship Troopers_, _Rivets_, _Hammer's Slammers_, the _Dougram_ games, and _SF3D_... >;)

I immediately thought of ASL but didn't mention it due to the lack of elevation on the GEV maps. Given that much of WWII was fought on (relatively) flat terrain (all that prairie and marsh and steppe in Poland and Russia), there's a lot of realistic scenarios one could create with the GEV maps.

Another thought is Avalon Hill's Tac Air. Again, if one ignores elevation, PanzerBlitz, Panzer Leader, and Arab/Israeli Wars all work, too.

I've been pondering making enlarged versions of the PanzerBlitz/Leader boards for Ogre and a translation table for converting the scenario OBs. While the elevations wouldn't affect firing in Ogre, the ridgelines could be treated just like the ridges on the orange map, passable only to infantry and Ogres.
