Thread updates, I'll link over to the BGG discussions this time [another fine forum that allows the img function to function].

Final step in the magnet system, I made some 28 gauge steel caddies to hold the infantry and fit in the Plano box:

And the forces of Dark Green are all done and detailed now:

Things From The Basement has been busy with some much larger projects, but finally caught up with listing the laser-cut base-toppers in the shop, both Ogre and Epic infantry types. They're great for either using with magnets, or just gluing infantry onto 3/4" inch bases and reducing the need for filler. 20 base toppers per sheet. Will conveniently cover all the infantry in an Ogre Battle Box, including the GEV-PC riders!

Those look nice. Do you know offhand how big their table is, or a sense for what they charge for "here is a CAD file" custom cuts? I'd rather not pest them directly just yet since this is more of a medium-to-long-term project, but one of the things on my to-do list is dreaming up a genuine imitation broken token insert for the O6E box, to make set-up and tear-down take less time...and once the design is finalized, laser-cut MDF is going to look a lot nicer than xacto-butchered foamcore.

This has me seriously considering rebasing all of my infantry.

No, I don't know what they might charge for 'here's the file'. But experience shows that it will be reasonable! Joerg has always been open to discussing suggestions. After emailing him thoughts on these bases, I sent him some drawings, a sample washer, plastic base and infantry, and he came back with the final design and cuts.

If you check out the Inspired By Sleepy Hollow range of 28mm buildings, that was all done in collaboration with me providing source material and kibbitzing over drafts, and him doing the design work. He's made the kits useful for a wide range of periods, I've been doing the extensive detail modelling on my own set to make them more screen-accurate.

He also made a 80mm hex stencil so I can paint my own large-format game mats. 1' x 2' was the biggest piece he could cut for that (and convenient size for the job).

Ok. 12x24 should work, I think the O6E box is in the neighborhood of 12x12. I suppose the first step is butchering a bunch of foam-core, find a layout I like...

I took large steel washers, sprayed a 'grass' spray paint over it and glued small magnets on the bottoms of all my infantry.
Here is the process I used.
Here is the spray I used to make the metal washers into grass covered infantry stands.

Wow, a webring! ^,^

Nice technique, I always love using the stone-texture spray paints for scenery and basing.
