Sure, it's another option, and again one that ought to require some hard thinking among people who care about (ir)religion(s).

A less obvious variation I've thought about is there is some revealed religion that is widespread in many timelines despite a lack of common origins, but that never existed on Homeline - the "Yes there is a God, and he's never bothered to try to save *us*" option.
