Tesla model S surpasses (almost) all Car Wars power plants:

Rocketing from 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, the new ... Tesla Model S P90D ... It’ll do the quarter mile in 10.9 seconds ... That also means the Tesla Model S will now accelerate with the force of 1.1G, which means it’ll actually feel faster than falling.

Ground-based Delivery Drones; or, "who needs to fly when you have a sidewalk!?"

Small, 6-wheeled robots can deliver small-to-medium packages.

"The robot uses GPS, sensors and cameras to travel on sidewalks at the same pace as a person and can make it up and down curbs and small stairs. It will stop when there is an obstacle or pedestrian in its path. If someone tries to mess with the robot, a human operator at a central control center can scare the thief away via a speaker and call the police. The robot has a microphone on it for two-way communication.

The engineers also said they put a lot of effort into making the robot "cute" so pedestrians would accept it. "

It was only in the decades After the Crash that corporations and individuals started mounting small weapons and armor on their 'cute' rolling drones... --Not From Article.

...i hope that they fare better than that hitch-hiking robot. it was 'cute', and some mouth-breathers pummeled it into another section of the history books.

A few more refinements and some spiffy AI, and then you've got machines that build new roads by themselves!

Check it out.

Toll road gangs in the Car Wars universe were tough but their power cannot compare to this plot. :o)

They're called CMFs -- Composite Metal Foams. It works like Car Wars armor, but better.

Real life keeps leaving science fiction in the dust.

I had to go look up 7.62x63mm ammo, I'd forgotten how huge .30-06 really is in comparison to most modern battle rifle cartridges. Great armor test!

That is some of the coolest sounding armor material ever... it resists radiation, plus Fire Proof (ish)!? Great for our Wastlelanders' vehicles.

"showed that CMFs are very effective at shielding X-rays, gamma rays and neutron radiation .... demonstrating that these metal foams handle fire and heat twice as well as the plain metals they are made of"
