Vitae of a GURPS player
Inspired by our new member Bee I was wondering about the general roleplaying vitae of a GURPS player.
So anyone who is interested in a small statistic on the GURPS player is invited to contribute his data. When there is enough data I will post the results in this thread. To make it easier to collect data please stick to the the following form and refrain from posting off topic. Code:
Year of birth: Year you started to roleplay: Year you started to play GURPS: Number of systems you play(ed) (at least 5 sessions, including GURPS): So here is my data: Year of birth: 1977 Year you started to roleplay: 1993 Year you started to play GURPS: 2000 Number of systems you play(ed) (at least 5 sessions, including GURPS): 4 Edit: Results (11-16-2007) Code:
Number of datasets: 93 Birth / Start / Start / No. / RPG / GURPS / Systems 1973 / 1987 / 1994 / 12 mean value 1949 / 1975 / 1985 / 1 minimum value 1968 / 1980 / 1989 / 7 lower quartile (25%-quantile) 1973 / 1986 / 1992 / 10 median (50%-quantile) 1979 / 1992 / 1999 / 15 upper quartile (75%-quantile) 1990 / 2007 / 2007 / 36 maximum value 8 / 7 / 6 / 7 standard deviation The collected data looks quite solid by now. The average GURPS-Joe is 34 years old, startet to roleplay 21 years ago and is playing GURPS since 15 years. Some additional facts: 93% of all players started to roleplay 10 years ago or earlier. 90% of all players played less than 21 RPGs. 90% of all players are 24 years old or older. 59% of all players started to play GURPS during the period of 1st Ed. (1986 [1985 Man to Man] to 1993). [7.4%-P. per year] 26.5% of all players started to play GURPS during the period of 3rd Ed. (1994 to 2003). [2.7%-P. per year] 14.5% of all players started to play GURPS during the period of 4th Ed. (2004 to now). [3.6%-P. per year] Last edited by LordHelmet; 11-30-2007 at 08:49 AM. |

Re: Vitae of a GURPS player
Year of birth: 1983
Year you started to roleplay: Approximately 1989, I guess. Maybe a bit later, but I can't remember exactly. Year you started to play GURPS: Around 2000, I guess. Lemme think, maybe it was in 1999. Number of systems you play(ed) (at least 5 sessions, including GURPS): Quick guess would put them at 15+, but I've really no idea. Could be much more.
