Move and Attack Maneuver
According to Page 31 of the Exploits book:
"For a melee attack other than a slam (p. 40), you have -4 to skill and final, effective skill after all modifiers cannot exceed 9." Let's say I have a 22 Broadsword. I might as well throw in rapid, deceptive attacks to the vials: 22 Skill -4 for maneuver -3 for rapid attack -2 for deceptive attack -3 to the vitals 10 to hit, modified down to a 9 as per the rules. Right? |

Re: Move and Attack Maneuver
To make a deceptive attack, your final effective skill must be at least 10.
As such it's impossible to perform deceptive attacks on a move and attack. |

Re: Move and Attack Maneuver
Oh interesting. I never would have caught that you can'd do a deceptive attack by definition on a Move and Attack.

Re: Move and Attack Maneuver
What the above said, you also can not rapid strike with a move and attack.
You can work around the Move and Attack effective skill limit by spending 1 FP for a Heroic Charge (Martial Arts page 131), thus allowing you to make a deceptive attack. |

Re: Move and Attack Maneuver
The moral of the story is if you are going to do a move and attack, either go for the eyes or use a shield. But really, if you’re going to be in melee, a shield is invaluable. DB is huge, block is superior to parry, and the no cap on slams for move and attack is gravy.

Re: Move and Attack Maneuver
By adding to the damage you do, and subtracting from the damage the recipient does back a shield is very key to actually causing the right person to fall over

Re: Move and Attack Maneuver
Pro tip: You’re often more likely to knock your opponent down when doing a shield rush at lower speed, since doubling the opponent’s damage requires a lower margin when the absolute numbers are lower, and the effect of you DB matters more.
Especially if your opponent can roll 0 or 1 damage.
