[IC] You Meet In A Tavern
It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents, except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in Waymeet that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness.
Lucky's Tavern was on the edge of town, where you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Inside, Zak, the owner and barkeep, keep a wary eye out for troublemakers. He felt confident in dealing with any because of his two ogre bouncers, Gar and Thumper. In a corner, idly tossing knuckle-bones was Smet, a dwarf with one eye and a nasty disposition. The tavern was unusually crowded. Not only were the regular low-lifes of Waymeet there, but also a number of caravan guards and drovers who normally prefer to drink in the Golden Swan, a place where you where less likely to have your wallet stolen. You walk into the tavern and ... [OOC] Please describe the actions of your character.

Re: [IC] You Meet In A Tavern
Slade pushes open the door. He's not bad looking, soaked to the bone, and armed to the teeth. He walks to the bar and says, "Something very strong." He drops a few coins on the bar to pay for the drink, gives a friendly smile, and eyes the room.
He spots Smet, walks to his table and drops his pack with a clang. He pulls up a chair backwards and sits, leaning forward against its back. "Let's shoot some dice. Five bucks a point." He opens his hand to show five coins. |

Corwin Bearclaw stepped through the door, shaking off what rain he could once he'd stepped into an area fully dry. A cloak must be purchased soon, perhaps in a nice forest green.
With a little of the excess water gone Corwin took a look around the tavern and headed for the bar. "What do you have that is hot and filling?" |

Re: [IC] You Meet In A Tavern
A gust of wind bangs the door into the wall as Janus Hestia enters, and he struggles to close it behind him. Several people stare at his back as he does this, as a large bulge marks him as a hunchback. Eventually Gar reaches pokes his head in and shuts the door. Janus smiles sheepishly at the room and removes his cloak to reveal the wooden lute that had caused the bulge. He begins to check it for signs of water damage, and once satisfied the lute is undamaged makes his way to the barkeep. He strums a few notes quietly and asks the barkeep, "What a day, what a night! Care if I sing a tune?"

Gidhean Faerix, an 40-ish year old, scholarly-looking guy enters the room, carrying an unusually dark-colored raven on his shoulder. He mumbles few words as he enters, and makes all of the water that was soaking him, disappear. Magic in action, most presumably.
He gets to the bar, and says: "A glass of wine, kind sir." And leaves a couple of coins on the bar. He scoops the room while sipping his wine. He even offers some to his raven companion. Last edited by Cyratos; 02-02-2010 at 05:17 PM. |

While waiting for his meal Corwin noted the latest person to come in, and took note of both the raven and water vanishing.
"Excuse me sir, could you make the water vanish from myself and my possessions? For me personally it is only a mild annoyance, but I carry things which can be harmed by dampness." |

"Why of course, it wouldn't be a problem at all."
Gidhean concentrates and casts Destroy Water on the man's clothes, removing it completely. (Rolled 11) Then, he casts Heat on his coat to warm him up just a little bit. (Rolled 7) "There you go, lad. Rainfalls can be pesky sometimes, but my curiosity is even peskier. May I ask what exactly are these items that you have? If it is not a secret, of course." |

Corwin was pleased, it would save some work when it came time to inspect and clean his equipment. The unexpected warmth was very pleasant as well.
"My weapons and armor mostly. I am Corwin Bearclaw, mercenary and currently without contract." He held out a hand. "Who would you and your companion be?" |

Re: [IC] You Meet In A Tavern
Janus receives a grunt in response from the barkeep, so he moves over to the fire and begins to tune his lute near the caravan guards. He jumps into a tune during a lull in their conversation and soon has their undivided attention.
Musical Instrument (lute) 3d6 → [2,6,3] = (11) < 14 SUCCESS http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2393888/ Musical Influence 3d6 → [4,6,2] = (12) < 13 SUCCESS http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2393893/ The strumming weaves in and out of the percussion coming from the rain with a pleasing result. The guards clap appreciatively and hand Janus a few coins (GM decision). After a successful start, Janus begins wandering the room and taking requests. He keeps the music to a soft background, though, in order to eavesdrop on the various conversations. [ooc] The starving artist is looking to make a bit of money... looking for GM decision on required roles, etc. |

Gidhean hears the pleasant music that the bard started to play, obviously influenced by it. He points at him, making sure that Corwin will notice. As soon as the bard approaches, he requests of him: "Laddie, would it be a problem for you to play "Barley Mow", to cheer up the tavern on this rainy day?" Gidhean gives him 10 coins, hoping it is enough. |
