Re: [OOC]Transhuman Space/Traveller Interstellar Wars: Transhuman Stars
As McIness asked GTO, I ask our GM :
What can the hyper engine do/cannot do ? (maximum mass, minimal/maximum distance, time between jump, accuracy, specific condition at departure/arrival point ? you said we cannot be too close from a celestial body to jump out. Any restriction on jump in ? can we jump anywhere ? Also, as i am not an expert, are the data on the lost planet within norm for such a celestial body ? Thanks celjabba |

Re: [OOC]Transhuman Space/Traveller Interstellar Wars: Transhuman Stars
It can jump from anywhere that's not within a 100 diameter radius of anything bigger than the ship is. It's got a range of 1.2 parsecs, and you basically project a line away from the ship. The first place that line intersects the 100 diameter radius of something bigger than you are is where you drop out of hyperspace one week later (regardless of the distance travelled, as long as it's in range), and that's the only way you can transition out of hyperspace. Each jump consumes one tank of fuel. It can jump as often as it wants, as long as you perform your calculations properly, you make sure everything's working properly, and you've got enough fuel. The accuracy of it depends on how well you perform the calculations for the jump line.
And yes, the data on the rogue planet is, according to the data you've got, within the norms of such a body. |

Re: [OOC]Transhuman Space/Traveller Interstellar Wars: Transhuman Stars
Thanks.
And what happen if there is no object on the travel line ? Is the ship is lost forever ? Will the crew notice ? Does the theory answer it, or is it still (and hopefully forever) a mistery ? On another ' lets be paranoid' subject, did GTO managed to get a date fix as i asked in the IC thread ? no unwanted time travel ? ;) Celjabba |

Re: [OOC]Transhuman Space/Traveller Interstellar Wars: Transhuman Stars
If there's nothing in the precise end of the line, it'll wind up falling into the 100-diameter border of anything in the same solar system (likely the sun, since it's the biggest thing in said solar system). If you try to jump out into empty interstellar space, the safeties kick in and prevent you from jumping; you don't have the mathematics to safely depart hyperspace in flat spacetime. You haven't gotten a precise timefix due to lack of anything to get a precise timefix with; you can't see any stars out of place, though, so you're in about the right time period.
