According to Geoffrey of Monmounth the Saxons were invited over to Britain by Vortigern because of his lust for Rowena and the manipulations of her father Hengist. In this world, Vortigern sees through Hengist's wiles and shows him the gate. This leads to a violent confrontation. Hengist dies and Vortigern is later killed driving the Saxons out of Britain.

This is lovely for the Britons, but where is Arthur coming in? This Q4 normal manna world sees to be going wrong in the eyes of the Cabalists seeking Arthurian lore from Arthur's court fresh.

The Cabalists are looking for dupes to bring back the Saxons and restore the story. Homeline agents will do just fine.

Basically, toss the PCs into the most obscure part of the legends of Arthur and run them ragged.

Hiroshima: Formerly an echo in it's late 15th century, 40 years ago Hiroshima was derailed by the sudden replacement of a quite fishing village with a version of Hiroshima from a 1946 that had dirigibles and dieselpunk mecha. It was only a few years later that Field Marshal Hata inaugurated the Hata shogunate, cutting short what would have been another century of constant strife in Sengoku era Japan. Hata was the commander of the 2nd General Army, which was charged with defending southern Japan from the anticipated American invasion.

Since then Hata and his successor have forged an alliance with the Portuguese and expanded southward to take over the Philippines, and Indonesia in order to begin drilling for petroleum in order to reactivate his stockpile of mecha. Additionally his heir has moved westward to take over Korea, an attempt that succeeded where it historically failed. Now the Shogunate is ready to throw down with China at the height of its power.

An interesting second turning point for Hiroshima would be the sudden appearance of a number of American and Soviet cities, believing that they were about to be "time reverted" only to appear here.

Even if that doesn't happen, Homeline is going to be interested in investigating if this is a chronological or paratemporal phenomenon.

Actually it's just the Hiroshima from Pandora-1 which could be found in the Weird Parallels.

Pandora-1 never invented nuclear weapons or airplanes but it did invent dirigibles and "chronal bombs" that replace the struck area with what they think is the past. The bombs actually ISOT the affected area into a random parallel. But since they've only used them a few times they haven't figured out that they aren't interacting with their own past. And yes, since the United States of Columbia and the German Reich are in a cold war and have stockpiled thousands of the things, Pandora-1 would be the most terrifying thing they've ever encountered. If World War III breaks out then countless population centers will be randomly flung into thousands of different parallels. Many of them controlled by what are functionally Nazis

Spinning off the idea of "chronal bombs" from Pandora-1, I assume that "coronal bombs" can be made in several ways.

So try this. In a Q6 parallel, a bitter Greek alchemist, furious that his sons and daughters were taken as slaves to Rome, and his sons castrated and all his children raped, creates a Teraphim (an object containing an aspect of a god) of Cronus to crush Rome.

When the Teraphim goes off, the Rome of Antoninus Pius in the year 855 AUC, is transported to the site of Fresno Califoria in the year 1787. They were still in Q6, but a different parallel.

Luckily for the Romans the granaries were fully stocked and may nearby estates and farms were pulled along with the city. Antonius Pius rose to the challenge. The Spanish, once they knew there was a new city in North America, tried to conquer it. But Rome had already run into guns and successfully reversed engineered them. Rome took California. Move on forty years to 1827, a Tech Level 5 Rome rules most of Mexico, from Russian America down to the Yucatan. Rome is building a fleet of good solid ships to protect their trade.

The Emperor is aware that the Republic on the other side of the continent has build a Canal that has greatly opened the center of the continent to them. They also see the Empire that Britannia has become free of the long wars with Gaul. If Rome is to achieve her destiny, both foes must be vanquished.

Basically the USA of 1827 (John Quincy Adams is in office, Jackson is coming up), now has a foe on the same continent that is a real threat.

The term Saxon is normally used for worlds that diverge because of events in Anglo-Saxon England. However, some people are suggesting that Saxon-5 might need to be called Athelstan.

In most worlds king Athelstan was a vitally important, but generally overlooked, tenth century English king. But in this Q6 world he's definately not going to be overlooked.

In most worlds where Athelstan becomes king he repels a massive invasion of England in 937 when he's 43 years old and dies two years later. In this world, freak storms throughout the September of 937 seem to have prevented the invasion and the major battle at Conisborough. This seems to have greatly effected Athelstan's health and general disposition. The king in this world lived to be seventy (964) and married a Welsh Princess in 939. His twenty-three year old heir lived to be seventy-five and founded a stable Anglo-Celtic Dynasty.

The local year is 1090, Athelstan II has chartered Universities at Oxford, Brecon, and Turo, all teaching Latin and Greek if possible. Each Patron of poetry in the local language. A choice for a Danelaw university is being debated. Athelstan is wed to a Scots Princess and the court language seems to be a form of Anglo-Saxon with large numbers of Celtic loan words.

The Comonweal of England is sophisticated, tolerant, and mercantile. Saxon government through councils has created Parliament by a different name decades early. Trade with Iceland and Greenland has led to Erikson's discovery of vinland the good being known in England by 1040.

The Cabal likes this world (Low Manna 70/Normal Manna 30%) and has subtlety introduced the box bellows, the spinning wheel and the sit-down loom into England. Each radically improving economic conditions in different ways.

The Cabal sees the early settlement of America as a great opportunity to absorb the mystic secrets of the Aztecs and Incas before their empires are founded. Plus, in the vastness of North America, just think of the cults you could hide.

Swagmen like this world to. Viking raiders ask few questions that worry a swagman, especially if the profit is good. And once you get the England or the Low Countries you can relax in comfort.

As soon as France heard of the German invasion of Poland the government takes decisive action! They invade Germany. Yes they're unprepared and their tech ins't up to date, but Germany bet everything on France and England not acting. The Germans can't turn around without massive confusion but Hitler orders it anyway. Suddenly Poland and France have beaten Germany and Stalin hasn't even had a chance to invade Poland.

It's now two years later. FDR is out of office, Stalin is eyeing Europe like a staved wolf eyes a lamb, Poland and France are desperate to keep Germany down, England and America is sick of them both, and Europe is still a powder keg waiting to explode.

Can your spies from the Western Powers, Homeline, the Cabal, Centrum, or anybody else, prevent a titanic explosion. Or is it a foregone conclusion.

Remember, China is in a civil war between communists and nationalists and Japan wants to wipe them both out. Extra credit: Italy is at war throughout North and East Africa and a naval war with Britain in the Mediterranean.

I suppose that depends on how big the Regia Marina got before Italy started the war, and for that matter, whether the Royal Navy took some damage before the war started.

One way that I can see it maybe working is Mussolini investing quite heavily in submarines and torpedoes, and timing the declaration of war so that a lot of submarine-based attacks took place right after the declaration was received and acknowledged.

Taranto in reverse. Italian torpedo bombers and subs do a coordinated attack on the British Med fleet. They can base out of Libya and they had torpedo bomber seaplanes also.
