Default Phase "0"

I need some clarification on these rules:

The rule says "At the start of your turn, draw a
face-down Door card, which you may play or not. Then
arrange cards and Kick Open The Door normally."

My question is this, If I draw the face down door card and it is a monster, can I play it, fight it, then after the fight is resolved kick in the door and possibly fight a second time in one turn??

I only ask because of the wording of the rule, it seems there is time to do things after listening at the door and actually kicking it in. It says you may play the card and arrange your cards prior to kicking in the door.

You may not play it if it is a monster. You cannot fight a monster on your turn before Kicking Open The Door.

I haven't really noted this before, but the way it is worded is really confusing. Maybe it should be added a phrase that no monsters can be played?

The thing that is missing is that the drawn card goes into your hand. You can only play the card if it is a legal card to play from your hand. A monster is not legal to play unless it is the looking-for-trouble phase.

The fact that the draw is face-down is sufficient to indicate that the card goes into your hand.

Snap! Add this to the list of things I've been doing wrong. Our group also misinterpreted "At the start of your turn, draw a face-down Door card, which you may play or not" to mean that if it was a monster you could fight it. In some cases we had 2 combats per turn. Lesson learned!

You know, this is why I was reluctant to play with this rule to begin with - I didn't fully understand the instructions (the "may play or not") part... between the fact that I was taught so many things wrong when I was first introduced to the game and I was actively trying to teach many others (10 and counting!) how to play, I didn't want to confuse myself any more than necessary.

Once Andrew specifically suggested it to me in the "More Monsters" thread, I did some research to understand it - but I agree, in the rules, it's a little fuzzy how it actually works.
