Curiosity question
Just pluggin' away on some scenarios and other Ogre stuff, and I got to thinking about playing the Ogre vs playing the conventional forces (in the original Ogre game). I started a thread over on BGG asking which side people preferred to play...you can find it here:
http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/9365...-show-of-hands I figured I'd ask here too, in that everyone has their own preferences as to where they haunt. Given the nature of the forces on my sheet I've sponsored, it should come as no surprise that I tend to playing the conventional forces over the Ogre. I'm curious as to others' thoughts... D.

Re: Curiosity question
I actually prefer playing without Ogres on either side or, as a second place, Ogres and conventional units on both sides. The customary one-Ogre-against- a-swarm-of-conventional-units scenario is the least interesting for me, though I'll play it if that's what folks want to do. :)

Re: Curiosity question
Yeah, I prefer GEV-style games myself.
But for the sake of simplicity, I wanted to see what everyone reached for when playing the basic game of Ogre... D.

Re: Curiosity question
I'm definitely in the Ogre-hunting camp when playing the basic scenario. Quick, hand me that tank. ;)

Re: Curiosity question
Little bugs make sparkly fireflies when I shoot them, and happy crunchy noises under my tread units.
* * * EDIT, ADD: Maybe I should translate that into Japanese, adjust it into a profound-sounding Haiku, and attribute its authorship to an Imperial Nihon Ogre A.I. with a serious case of Bushido. ;) Last edited by FireHorse; 02-25-2013 at 08:24 AM. Reason: Epimetheus |

Conventional Forces. More choices = more possible strategies.

I've been on the winning side since the beginning. The Army...er, armored unit of one.

Re: Curiosity question
Well, like I said on BGG, I started with G.E.V., so I tend to lean toward conventional forces. I also prefer the more involved maps. I'm sure imprinting at 8 years old has nothing to do with it. :-)

Re: Curiosity question
I'm the same, though I was in my teens when I first picked up GEV.

Re: Curiosity question
As we used to say, "If you ain't cav, you ain't ****". So, conventional forces all the way. Of course, since I mainly play PanEuro, that is pretty much a given.
Not that I'd turn down some close support by a Fencer, mind you... |
