So, no actual change.
That’s rather relevant rules research, JLV. Right on!

Keep in mind that a lot of inflation has happened since ITL was originally written -- a $3 game is now a $15 game; meaning that over the last 40 years, costs have gone up about 500%. So in original TFT terms, the IWIA pledge would price out at about 2 gold pieces (and 2 Silver pieces). (And yes, you really could buy lunch for a dollar back in the '70's -- I did it quite frequently in High School when we went "out" to lunch on the local restaurants and fast-food joints, instead of eating "in" at the cafeteria...)

It's a pity that all those pesky adventurers kept bringing home more gold and all -- we are now in a seriously inflated economy because of it.

(And that, by the way, is exactly the effect that dumping tons of gold into the local economy would have, if your players did it, and you allowed them that much gold -- rampant inflation with outsize effects on he price of real goods (read "manufactured goods") as compared to service industry jobs -- wages would probably lag just about as much as they do in the US, as well. Mind you, this assumes a fairly laissez faire style of economy, excessive government planning would probably exaggerate the effects.)

If only I had gotten my royalties in gold, back in the Metagaming days!

ITL page 36 lists coins at 200/kg, or, using the ITL 2.2lb/kg, 90.9 per lb. (it should really be about 89...)

at 90.9 per lb, that's 5.7 per ounce... the size of a US nickel...(~28.349g/ounce, over 5.7, some 4.973 g, while the nickel is 5.0...)

That makes them about the size of a shilling, which is a good size for a silver coin — convenient but not too fiddly.
