Cursed Thingy doubled

I was just playing with my kids and my son cursed me with the cursed thingy. I played it on an item I wasn't equipped with. I didn't really need it so I left it alone for half the game. Then I pulled a second cursed thingy while kicking down a door. I could not find any reason on the card that I couldn't play it on the same item twice.

Somewhat understandably this caused a small argument. Has there ever been an official ruling on this or something similar? I couldn't find anything from searching the rules, faq, errata, or these forums.

You can't play it on the same Item twice. The bonus and special powers of the Item are "disabled" by the Curse, which can only be played on an Item that gives a bonus and/or special powers. Since the Cursed Item has no bonus or special powers, you couldn't possibly play Curse! Cursed Thingy on it again.
