Long bony fingers during combat
During a game of Munchkin Zombies, we reached a stage where:
- a player was on level nine, - he was in combat with some monster - everyone had exhausted their hands trying to stop this person from winning. The situation was that the player and the monster had an equal score, meaning that the player was about to lose the battle. He looked though his cards for about a minute and said that he was going to use his "Long Bony Fingers", which he had in play. He showed us that it said "any time during your turn" meaning that he could use it while in combat. Then he went through the treasure discards and found an item that was sufficient to win the battle (more than +2). Meaning that he also won the game. My question is, does the new card (taken from the discard pile) go into the players hand or on the table? If the card goes into the players hand then he can't introduce it during the fight (and win the game). |

Re: Long bony fingers during combat
The card goes to the player's hand. He can not play an Item to the table during combat with the exception of one-shot Items (those that say "usable once only") since they can be used from the hand to be used in any combat. So, if the Item in question was a one-shot, the play was legal. If it was not, then it was not legal. That level of detail was missing from your description of events, so I have to give the "maybe it was, maybe it wasn't" answer. . .

As a general rule, cards you retrieve from the discards ALWAYS go into your hand. (And cards played from your hand are considered to be "face down," for cards such as Hoard where that matters.)

Not during combat.

Re: Long bony fingers during combat
Good point. So the moral of the story is "watch out for those that have long bony fingers during the end game."

I just want to be clear, one shot items can be played from your hand into combat? They don't have to be played on the table first?
