Default Retroactive Continuity potion question - Munchkin Marked for death

i am against a single monster and i decide to use this potion.
Can i still looking for trouble?
I ask this question because the sentence "One of the monsters you were fighting never existed; ... "

Nope. That's just flavor text. The card itself tells you only to discard the Monster and all cards played for or against it. Combat then ends because there's no longer a Monster to fight and play continues as normal.
