[RPM] Sense and Area Effect
Hey ya'll,
Just looking to get a real quick clarification on some of the potential applications of Ritual Path Magic, specifically, whether or not an Area Effect modifier is necessary to Sense spell subjects within a certain range. The particular example I was thinking of was to essentially recreate a Sense Foes spell from GURPS Magic when cast as an Area spell. The spell states that it "tells the caster if the subject has hostile intent," and "if cast over an area, this spell will only detect that someone is hostile, without telling who." While detecting whether a specific target is hostile is easy enough, does "detect whether there is anyone hostile within 10 yards," again excluding the who, require an Area Effect modifier, or is it simply assumed within the range of 10 yards? Thanks, all. Jinumon |

Re: [RPM] Sense and Area Effect
Seems pretty clear that you would need the Area Effect Modifier to me. Although, I would say that the RPM version would allow for telling who it is with a Lesser Effect given what it says about Path of Mind in the book.

Re: [RPM] Sense and Area Effect
Pretty much what Z said. Without Area Effect it locates the nearest hostile intent. With Area Effect it finds all hostile intent in the area.
