Default Question about the Mind Gem in Marvel/Xmen Munchkin

1. Is there any way to counter the Mind Gem (discard three cards to force another player to help you. they get one treasure)? It's not a trap card per se, but it would be nice if cancel trap or something else like that could counter it.

2. If someone forces you to help them using the Mind Gem and they still lose, does the person who was forced to help also have to do the bad stuff if they fail the roll to run away?

1. No, but the person being forced to help is not required to be helpful by playing extra cards or using activated abilities. (And, per recent rulings, you CANNOT force someone to help you in a combat to win the game.)

2. Yes, if you are a helper in a fight and the main player decides to Run Away, you must also roll, even if you didn't want to be there in the first place.
