Pictures for NPCs
I am looking after creating about five hundred good-looking NPCs and I barely have fifty pictures of people who might be considered to fit into the "beautiful/handsome" or better appearance according to today´s beauty standards. I would really appreciate if you can provide me more. Thank you.

Re: Pictures for NPCs
I have found that a good way to get these is a Google Image search for strings like "current hairstyles for women" or "1990s hairstyles for men".
The models used for hairstyle photos are generally good-looking, but not famous.

Re: Pictures for NPCs
Thank you, I also used to but this far most of the images I find are people over 30-40 years old and some are very pixelated. Have you got any other idea or keywords?

Also - search on sports by name, such as volleyball, soccer, basketball etc. When all else fails, go to classmates.com and look for yearbook sample pictures. Just something as simple as "Women of Toronto" can pull up a fair number of photographs that you can use if needed. I just did a search on "Women fencers" under the images category and found some nice action pictures of women fencers. So, the question becomes one of "what are you trying to get these pictures for? Ie, what genre are you trying to use these pictures for? Maybe searching for "Cyberpunk fashion" might be more your style. Here is one photograph that popped up in a search on the very first page of possibilities: https://www.google.com/search?biw=17...XtqafImJeNZ1M: Overall? If you're stuck for ideas for search parameters, drop me a line and perhaps I can give you more ideas... |

Re: Pictures for NPCs
I usually have the problem the other way around -- searching Google Images for some type ("middle-aged balding man") brings up far too many photos of unusually attractive people. Finding ordinary-looking people seems to take a lot more inspection and filtering.

Re: Pictures for NPCs
Just type 'sexy subgroup woman' or 'sexy subgroup men' into Google images and make sure you have SafeSearch on. You can easily find 50 English women, 50 Japanese women, 50 Korean women, etc.

Re: Pictures for NPCs
How do you avoid getting multiple pictures from the same people?

Re: Pictures for NPCs
For pixelated images you can use search tools and specify medium or large images.
You can also use search operators for image searches. A quick test for "Model photo -fashion -man -male -car -3d -chart" seemed to do well. Clicking on the View More section of the pop open for a given image is also very helpful. |

It seems to me that in a novel, or a movie, you start getting the feeling of "huge cast of characters" long before reaching even 100. For example, in Captain America: Civil War, there were maybe two dozen named characters, and viewers won't necessarily remember all of them. I think that's commensurate with how many NPCs I come up with for ongoing campaigns. A long campaign might have a larger cast. A lengthy campaign might have more, but once you get much past 100 I think they may start to blur together; surely your players aren't likely to remember all of their faces!
