A good place to use zombie guards might be in those secret tunnels that most strongholds have and that the opposition always seem to learn about.

A zombie avoids many of the issues live guards have. Zombies don't get bored, don't fall asleep on duty, don't have lustful thoughts after the critter walking past, don't need bathroom breaks, and the salary requirements are zero. Plus you only need one shift of zombies instead of 3 or 4 shifts of live guards. Another advantage is that any 'alert' the zombie sends is probably important and needs your attention.

  1. Dig up ballerinas who were DX 14+ in life
  2. Use your staff Mana to make them ST 35 zombies with pike ax and small shield
  3. Recast every 30 days
  4. Recharge from Drain Strength, getting one fatigue per subject per day
  5. A village of 200 then supports a zombie army of 150

Truly a tragedy!

Hmm, the entry for Zombie Ring seems messed up. I think it should be:

Zombie Ring 3,000 - 10 100 –

100 weeks for a $3000 item that just supplies 1 ST per day just doesn't make sense.

So pay 150 IQ 19 wizards from Molly's clan to spend 10 weeks making zombie rings.

Your zombie army is autonomous and doesn't need to stay near you or your villages.

[edit]
It's not clear whether putting a zombie ring on your own zombie cuts off your perception from it. If so, the army needs to carry a proxy or three.

The Zombie Ring entry is an erratum. There are no notes, so everything should be moved one column to the right (aside from price). Thus, four weeks to make, 100 ST per week and $10 in ingredients per week.

At least that's in my notes, but I think it came from an official errata sheet somewhere.
