Default GURPS Horror for 4th ed = Ken Hite

The good doctor spilled it on the blog.

It's Madness I tell you. Put it in the Dossier!

Best kept non-secret ever!

Ah... I knew it all the time... but it's still good news :)

I think "dream author" captures it pretty well. 3rd ed Horror was one of the best GURPS books I've ever read. I can't wait to see what Mr. Hite does for 4th edition.

We are talking a big fat hardcover, right?

The current plan is a color hardcover.

This would round out the main genre sourcebooks: Fantasy, Space, Horror, Supers, Infinite Worlds (time/dimension hopping). After this, the real need would be toolkit books, like Bestiary, Vehicles and Low-Tech, and SJG has had problems in this area. I can't see the various historical sourcebooks warranting an update, though I suppose the biggest genres of them -- Imperial Rome, Japan, Old West, maybe WWII -- could get an e23 version for 4e.

The current pace of GURPS hardcovers is starting to sound more like a non-issue. Nowadays, there just are not that many titles that warrant a hardcover book, with the printing and shipping costs those have. SJG is lucky to have one of the few titles in the RPG industry left worthy of a few regular print run books.

I'd say there's definitely room in there somewhere for a "Military" book, and Kromm has indicated that he'd like to see one. I think "modern" is really too broad for a single book, but there's areas contained in it that are under-explored. I'd like to see a Cyberpunk genre book, too, but I think it would be an e23 thing - too small and old a genre to justify much more at this point.

At this point, I doubt we're ever going to see a Bestiary or Vehicles book in the 3e model, and I think that's for the best.

Cyberpunk would fit well with the Dungeon Fantasy/Action style series.

Yes, I doubt it, and no, it is not for the best, as commonly believed, since these things are more than mere catalogs.

As I understand mr. Hite's own blog, it's to be a 144-pager? (the 128 from the 3rd ed. plus the extra 16 pages he mentions?)
