Yeah, I guess it would. After some thinking, I would have to say maybe another supplement called exotic farming or something after a basic one would be better.

Probably one shot so better all at once so a chapter separating might be ok but not two books.

Writing some thing gurps related and having a gurps product published are two different things. While I can easily do the the former, the later is new ground for me. I hope I can create something worth the effort of publishing. Will it be of interest to enough gamers to justify publishing?

50,200(+) species x 8(+) tech levels x innumerable environments and cultures = a lot of potential content.

What does everyone want to use this writing for exactly?
- Fleshing out the background of settlements and settings, adding depth.
- Determining reasonable numbers for what is possible under assorted conditions.
- Shaping how a campaign centered around building for the future might look.
- Something else entirely.

If you want to write it for publication you need to start there.
The forums arent the place to ask because were too small a niche of the market. SJG will have to decide if they think its marketable.

As for my use?
Figuring out how much farmland and the type of crops to support towns and such.
Also for determing income of plant and weather type mages.
And to tinker with odd setups for campaign flavor.
I could see it for a PC Lord or Mayor trying to run or build a settlement.

I'd use it to create a realistic background for a struggling settlement in an AtE setting, or to create a starting space colony, or even map out the resources available for a small group of marooned people.

Adds note about scrounging seeds

Star colonies tpo, I expect. Maybe sci fi fashions have changed since I was a wee one, though, haven't seen as much if that lately.

For me? 1 and 2. I don't have much use for 3 and I can't even conceive of a 4.

Having a better understanding in game terms of farming. The effect of this is mostly your first two points.
