GURPS in a movie? Ye GADS!

Hello Folks,
I'm watching "Of Dice and men" on Amazon Prime and was in shock that this kickstarter funded movie actually exists. Brought back memories when the showed a LOT of GURPS books on a rack at a gaming store, and one woman buying GURPS WARRIORS talking about the book and a character she wants to create that has to take Magery (which her character is conflicted about) yadda yadda yadda.

Makes me think of DORK TOWER in a way...

Just tossing this out there for people to take a gander at if they're so inclined. Its about a role playing group and one of the "geeks" is leaving it all behind to move away. Haven't finished it as yet, but I will...

Seems to me that FALLOUT was supposed to be a GURPS vehicle to begin with before that fell apart. An inside joke perhaps?

I assumed so. It's quite noticeable in Fallout 1. There's still SWING and THRUST options for knives, even though the damage is the same AFAIK.

If I did understand things well, Fall Out was supposed to use GURPS rules, exactly as Baldur's Gate (and many other computer RPG) used AD&D rules. But, eventually, there was a break-up (for a reason I don't know).

It is sort of cheesy, and the bulk of the role playing (its about the dynamics of role playing without mocking the people role playing if that makes sense). It's a single show, and it sort of examines the worth of role playing, the cluelessness of some people, along with "every group has one" kind of thinking. Right down to what happens when a woman walks into a Store and such.

But, the fun part is, for entertainment value, it isn't worse than some of the gaming sessions we've all had at some point in time. ;)

Give it a shot and form your own opinions. On a scale of 1 to 5, I'd rate it maybe 3 ish.

It's so sad when deal makers Fall Out with each other. It creates such a World Of Darkness; an apocalypse preventing an ascension to awesome gaming we all need, if you will......Horseclans.
