Re: Shapeshifters 3e
The amount of value that is unrelated to mechanics and my recollection is that it was quite a crunch heavy book.

Re: Shapeshifters 3e
Kind of what I was thinking. OTOH, where would I find the equivelant material in 4e? There are werewolves in DF, banestorm, a bit in powers, horror. I'm wondering if there is enough information worth adapting to 4e.

Re: Shapeshifters 3e
9 pages are on the history and mythology of the shapechanger and have no crunch at all.
33 pages are on very very crunchy stuff about a redesigned Alternate Form advantage and general selection of traits - some of it is still of consideration in a 4e game but on the whole I can see writing it off. 15 pages are about campaigns with shapeshifting as a major theme - these again have no crunch. 20 pages are racial writeups for morphs - about 10% is racial templates or character writeups, the rest is significant system independent descriptive text of races and characters. 37 are racial writeups for weres - the same sort of proportionate split between crunch and fluff as for morphs. The rest of the book is glossary, index, TOC, title page, etc. Overall it's actually a pretty fluffy book, considering the content.

Re: Shapeshifters 3e
There's currently no equivalent in 4e for a general book about shapeshifting. The 3e rules material would need some conversion, but it wouldn't be too difficult to do so, I'd imagine - it's all late 3e, so the rules gap is narrower. Modifiers are the order of the day, for example. The one thing I'd look out for is that the version of Alternate Form in Shapeshifters ("Were") only takes 3 seconds to transform, as opposed to 4e's 10 seconds. So time-reducing enhancements for 3e are relatively less valuable.
