I would say you didn't get a treasure for attempting to run. You have to sucessfully get away to snag the treasure. You don't get a treasure card until the combat is resolved, so if you don't escape then the bad stuff is the resolution, not the free treasure.

You would have to escape ALL the monsters to get your one free treasure.

If even one of them catches you and Bad Stuff happens....no treasure.

So you would not draw a treasure after resolving the Bad Stuff.

Except that is not what the Tuba of Charm card says. In general, you're right -- if you run, you don't get anything -- but this card breaks that rule.

It sort of is. Given that Andrew said earlier in the thread that you only get one Treasure no matter how many monsters there are, then I can't think of any other technique that would work to determine whether you got that Treasure.

maybe it's some sort of special Russian logic, but for me, the words "you get only one treasure, no matter how many monsters there are", does not mean that you have to run away successfully from all of them.

Andrew just said the Tuba breaks this rule. Even if you dont' Run Away from all Monsters you still get 1 Treasure (except if you die)

Andrew didn't "just" say anything, since my last post in this thread is two years old. However, I am now officially saying that the Tuba of Charm gives you one (and ONLY one) Treasure after you Run Away, successfully or not, unless you die.

But Tuba of Charm card say you get Treasure "if you successfully escape combat". You purposely overruling card text?

Well, I didn't see that coming. I'm also a little concerned that we are now using the term "escape combat" to mean the same thing as "survive Running Away." This new definition does work semantically, but it makes the term quite different to "escaping a monster," which is defined in the rules as not taking any of the monster's Bad Stuff.
