[RPM] Buying Innate Rituals
Simple (ish) question: if I want a character to be able to buy a spell from RPM as presented in Monster Hunters, how would I price it?
They would be able to perform that spell (and only that spell) competently, without the need for ritual adept. I ask, because doing so seems like a good way to build up a spirit-pact power source; the spirit grants the caster a certain number of pre-defined spells, maybe some skill in a Path or two, and an energy reserve. The last two parts are easy to handle, the first I'm not sure on. |

Pretty sure being Adept for one particular spell is a Perk that must be bought per ritual.

Re: [RPM] Buying Innate Rituals
There is no real way to do this. The closest you can get is the rules for Innate Rituals from Pyramid #3/66: The Laws of Magic

Re: [RPM] Buying Innate Rituals
Not quite RAW, but...
Ritual Adept (Single Ritual) [8] -Use Adept times, ignore non-Adept restrictions, etc Magery 0 (Single Ritual) [1] -Ignore non-Mage restrictions One Task Wonder (Single Ritual) [var] -The given Ritual defaults to IQ; cost is equal to the number of Paths +1 (for Thaumatology) Ritual Mastery [1] -Increases to IQ+2; further levels give another +1 each So, for a fireball spell (Path of Energy), [12] gets you to IQ+2, and each further [1] gets you another +1 to effective skill. Note Ritual Adept (Single Ritual) may be a bit overpriced, due to -80% being the limit; [4] (-90%) may be more fair, and would drop the above to [8]. (EDIT: I'll note the only non-RAW part of the above is One Task Wonder being used for a ritual. I'd personally allow it - while it's certainly the primary use of the skill to work rituals, this is only for a single ritual out of an innumerable amount.) Quote:

Whoops. Yeah. Errrr. Sorry about that. I meant Ritual Powers. I guess I did cut the others at some point...

Re: [RPM] Buying Innate Rituals
I actually quite like this suggestion - it works out as something quick and easy to write up. Right now it's going to compete against a different approach based around skills and specialties (with different spirits granting different specialties) for my ultimate use.
