How many treasures do I get if running away with tuba of charm?
My buddy had the Tuba Of Charm and he had to Run Away from Plutonium Dragon. We had an argument about how many treasures he must get.
I told him that it is written in the Changelog that "You get to draw a Treasure", so he can only take one because the indefinite article was used. I think that if he could take all the stuff, it would be written "You get to draw the Treasures". He disagrees with me. Who's right? |

You get ONE treasure when fleeing the combat. That's ONE, not one per monster, and certainly not all the treasure you'd get for defeating the monsters.

Next time he agrees to let you borrow "a" dollar tell him that you really get to take all of them since that's what he seems to think it means.

I honestly don't know how the interpretation of that card could be anything else.

It's not really helpful to post a comment such as this one, ComBAT. People get confused by the weirdest things, especially in an exception-driven game like Munchkin.

ahh payback is wonderful. I did that to a friend who had a strange definition of missing a turn. So when we played monopoly and I was instructed to miss a turn I left the room and came back later claiming I missed a turn. When he argued I pointed out I was using his definition!

Well, it easy to see why you might expect one treasure per monster as you do have to run away from each monster. However, it is just one per COMBAT vs. one per monster.

Re: How many treasures do I get if running away with tuba of charm?
Yeah, I had a Russian friend in college that would joke with me all the time about how screwed up our language is. He used to get confused with our use of "a" and "the". In general "a" is used to show the general singular to denote one thing in a group. "...a treasure" means 1 treasure in a group of treasures. The word "the" is usually used for the plural and the noun has an "s" at the end. "...the treasures" would mean the whole group of treasures. But then it gets confusing because we also use "the" for the specific singular when we point to exact thing like: the Kremlin, the Statue of Liberty, etc.. so yeah, our language is a bit odd.
