Read-only .gca4 files
Make a copy of a character, for this test. Set the file to read-only with Windows Explorer. Open it in GCA4. Alter something, then try to save the character. GCA terminates instantly, with no error message. Restarting GCA gives you crash recovery.
It would be better if GCA offered the Save As dialog if the file isn't writable. I discovered this because the way one GM mails me updated character sheets leaves them read-only in my email. I'm on b4.0.383. John |

Re: Read-only .gca4 files
Sorry about that. This has been reported before, but I still haven't fixed it. It is still on the list of things to look at.

Re: Read-only .gca4 files
Note that if you're trying to make character files that can't accidentally be overwritten you can simply Save As -> Character Base File. When you open a Charcter Base File in GCA it automatically opens a blank Save As dialog when you go to save it, forcing the user to save it under a new name.
