Default GURPS and Fallout :(

I guess this has been asked over a billion times, but why didn't Black Isle accept the terms of GURPS? Why not make a Fallout game in the future that utilizes the wonderful, overwhelming GURPS? It would be awesome. I would buy it as soon as it came out! :D

It would be very, very good to have a GURPS Fallout but... Well... We kinda have :) Just play both games (and third is on it's way, they've announced it at E3 IIRC) and create characters because you know everything about the setting now ;)

Cheers...

The 'word' was something about Fallout being a very bloody-minded carnage-fest and SJ didn't want Gurps over-associated with it. I guess the game company figured that carnage sells.

But, but, it has radioactive mutants too! And gauss guns, and New Reno! Sniff, oh how I loves the fallout, my precious...

I have said this before. Apparently I will say it again. No one who did not at some time work for Interplay or SJ Games knows the story. (Probably many of the people who DID work for those companies don't know the story, or don't know all of it. I don't know all of it.) Anyone who thinks he knows the story because of something he heard online is kidding himself.

Do not, in other words, believe the rumors. No matter what the rumors say.

Even if the rumors momentarily make my heart sing out in joy? Even if they do combine the two sacred words, Fallout and Gurps? Even a lie in this case warms, and then crushes, my heart.

Personally I love open-ended c-rpgs, but apparently at lot of the endings were about killing things. :*)

EDIT: though maybe that's more Fallout 2

Well, before this post I believed it was just an issue of whether SJ Games got a final say over the finished product. Yer standard everyday boring contract dispute.

But the above post has convinced me there might be far more interesting reasons behind it, and has there fore inticed me to go seek out new and fresh rumors about it. =)

Total Rumor:

A guy that I know (who I assure you is a complete @$$, BTW) who worked for Interplay/Black Isle at the time claims that SJ wanted the game to use a 1st person perspective, whereas Black Isle wanted the third person isometric perspective that they ended up using.
