Game Ideas from the News
No, not the storm that knocked out the SJGames T1 this week (although we could always tie that in to IN by blaming Janus).
I've noticed a couple of articles recently that sparked game ideas, and thought a thread for such articles would be in order... First article: Gin, Television, and Social Surplus The author compares the 20th-century's rise of the television culture to the 18th-century's widespread alcoholism, and explains how each is a generation-long transient phenomonon. Tying it in to IN: If the author is correct (and I believe he is), then David, Jean, and Eli can work together to seriously dent Nybbas's Word while subtly promoting Yves' Word... and have started to do so. Maybe that's why Eli is "on walkabout" - somebody had to set things up on Earth... Second article: Swiss ponder the 'dignity of plants' Because of the way the Swiss 2004 Gene Technology Law was worded, Swiss researchers must consider "the dignity of creatures" while carrying out grant-funded research. But the wording is such that plants count as creatures. Tying it in to IN: Did some Servitors of Novalis and Jordi work together to slip this provision into the law, to promote both of their Superiors' Words? Or did a Soldier of Kobal do this to make Flowers look silly?

Re: Game Ideas from the News
I see this thread has been laying fallow for a couple of years... Time to bring it back.
The Register: Vatican crackdown at Rome's Playboy Mansion-style monastery Obviously, Andrealpheus managed to get a toe-hold in this particular monastery, possibly with Nybbas' help. (The new abbot was a fashion designer, after all, and we all know which Demon Prince thinks appearance is everything.) But it looks like the Host's counter-offensive may have been lead by Trade, not The Sword...

Or, from the Weekly World News. I'm pretty sure this one's a repeat.
How to Sell Your Soul to the Devil (PbP players in my game--consider this article in-game.)

Los Angeles Times: San Francisco considers banning the sale of all pets
Well, it's a paper based in LA, so this might be a Media plot to make SF look bad. But if it isn't, then Jordi hasn't thought things through (and Novalis really should have mentioned that to him/her/it/them - what is the correct pronoun for a Kyrio, anyway?). Cutting off the supply of legal pets will cause some people to turn to illegal sources for their animal companions... and some of those sources will be happy to fill those Needs, for a price.

Vice battles virtue -- in mutual funds
The top two mutual fund performers last quarter: #1: Virtus, a fund that sticks to what it considers responsible basics.* #2: Vice, which invests in recession-resistant "habit stocks" like alcohol, tobacco and gambling. Maybe sometimes Marc and Lilith get a little cocky with their personal rivalry? * Among Virtus' holdings are "Hittite Microwave, which builds semiconductors for the communications industry" and "Cohen & Steers, which runs real estate investment trusts." Ladies and gentlemen, two major Jeanite and Davidian cover companies for your games. Last edited by William; 07-17-2011 at 12:08 PM. |

In the real world, I suppose this is a little strange and sad. In the IN-Verse, it leads the mind immediately to Shedim of Dark Humor. Either that, or a celestial that has really had trouble acculturating:

Re: Game Ideas from the News
I always thought that the Onion News was great for using as real news -
I think Steve Hoyer (see link) is a remnant Seraph who was trying to improve health for humans - not sure which Superior he was originally from, though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0AEarudEdI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0AEarudEdI This video might be a hook to make Laurence or Dominic servitors investigate, for involvement of Andrealphus... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG27QpyEa7g Whereas this might point to some Vapulans trying to provoke Jordi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ7J7UjsRqg This on the other hand might be the weirdest deal between Nybbas and Novalis, ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4erdYR7DrsE And finally, this one includes more Steve Hoyer, the first part is rather weird, and the last part is just... well... I keep thinking one must be able to use it for something, but I'm not sure what (except for flavour in a Cyberpunk setting)- any ideas? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm075jVKQ8k |

Re: Game Ideas from the News
Commentary on a possible universal antiviral. Is this what Eli's been up to? Is some Lightning angel smiling as humans start to reach their potential? Or is this a plot by Vapula with something else buried in the genetic coding?
