Burning ... someone else's ... HP for spells
Is there a spell that allows you to burn someone else's HP to fuel your magic or will I have to create one? And yes, I was thinking of a non-voluntary donor.

I'd go with power approach - a heavily modified leech that would allow you to fuel only the spells cast while leeching perhaps?
Cheerio!

Probably Leech. This should be expensive - remember that it's an attack that also fuels your innate abilities...

I found it to be an interesting dynamic (in a past campaign) to make "sacrificial mana" cheap and easy to obtain. It made the bad guys really bad, it didn't leave piles of powerstones and other goodies behind, and it created at least one interesting moral dilemma for the players. With the wrong players, though, it could be a total disaster. :\ But, to answer the question, there's not (AFAIK) a spell in Magic that lets you do this OOTB. I'll post the version I was using later, when I'm home with access to my notes.

Re: Burning ... someone else's ... HP for spells
Not in Magic, ya need a cross of like Steal Vitality (necro), Steal Health (necro), and Draw Power (tech). The steal ones operate much too slowly and are used to replenish lost stuff, Draw is much more like the mechanics you're after, but applies to tech energy not people. Look at those two in Magic and you should be able to come up with something drawing ideas from those 3.
Hmm, tho the Steal's require a helpless or willing subject. So is going to be even harder for non-willing. |
