Luck for rerolling enemy damage rolls only
How would you price Luck that's available only for rerolling enemy damage rolls? I'd say it's something -60%-ish.
That is, Luck (Only For Rerolling Enemy Damage Rolls, -60%) [6] Opinions appreciated.

EDIT: And that would actually fit rerolling enemy skill rolls made against you, not only damage. But you could look at power-ups limitations. I would rather buy another advantage such as limited DR or enhanced defenses. - Hide Last edited by Hide; 10-19-2018 at 07:28 PM. Reason: Local network issues. |

Why -10%? Even Aspected limitation is worth -20%.

Re: Luck for rerolling enemy damage rolls only
Because that would be the case for a very common situation in my settings (which have a lot of combat). This is as of Power-Ups: Limitations “Specific” (do note this is for materials, but I would stretch it to “situations").
You could as well, try -40%, which is also listed as a limitation for “common 'situations'”; perhaps you are better off with an advantage that actively helps you to avoid getting damaged as much as possible in the first place (such as enhanced parry, enhanced dodge or increasing your combat skills). If you pick such limitation, that would be the "Accessibility" limitation at -40%. I still think -40% is quite much. Why? Because in GURPS powers, there is a limitation for the "extra attack" advantage. It is called "Single Skill", which gives you extra attack for a single skill with a -20% (similar to “aspected”). Finally, a limitation ranging from -60% to -80% (IMO), would apply to "specific Luck" against one type of attack (i.e. short-sword attacks) or a single person (i.e. sparring fellow). However I would personally be very weary of allowing it as the kinds of builds this would be relevant for can be problematic. In a Low-tech game were people tend to only roll 1d or 2d damage dies you can quite easily get enough DR to only be vulnerable to a high damage roll. This Luck could give a fail-safe against that and allow you to All-Out much more reliably. Actually the same is probably even more true for high Damage supers games. Were rolling 6d is less likely to result in high damage. Anyway. Just to say I don't think a -60% is justified. But -10% is too low. So maybe a -30%? |
