The Israeli Empire may very well have survived the Last War, making it the last major human-controlled nation in the Factory States era.
Thanks for that information. But I like my idea better ^_^

After looking through my print copy of the Ogre Book 2E and not finding anything I googled, found a forum link and in turn a link to a wayback machine cache of a now dead site telling me the source is GURPS OGRE. I never thought of that as canon but after looking at the sample PDF and seeing that the book is on sale now, I got that book.

While I dont like the way the middle east and Israel are handled at all but at least this snippet from P96 regarding the Golem supports my own idea: "Israel produced no deliberately sentient models."

Oh, believe me, I will be doing everything I can to convince them to make at least Vulcan arms to go with the Mk. VI Kickstarter. If they do, I can guarantee at least 4-5 sets purchased by me, so I can make a few Junkyard DOGREs. And then I can really let the dogs out!

And if memory serves, somewhere else mentioned that none of them became sentient of their own accord, as well.

Given the way you speak of it (and trusting that you've studied Israel politically far more than I have), I imagine though that it was a matter of survival, rather than a matter of desire, that would have driven them to it. There are only two ways to reliably kill an Ogre: With an entire battalion of troops, and with another Ogre. Enough cruise missiles can also do it, but tends to leave a lot of land scarred beyond use for generations.

Israel does not have a (comparative) lot of manpower to throw battalion after battalion at every cybertank that comes their way when a war that comprised empires large enough to span an entire continent spilled over their borders...would the leaders, having been faced with the destruction of the holy land and the loss of Israel itself, swallowed their pride and turned to the stories of old for their survival?

I'm going to answer in detail in the Israeli Ogre thread (which you are already aware of so as not to derail this thread any more.

No shipping announcement or tracking info received, just 'boom', and it's there on your doorstep?
