Giving Items in Exchange for Cancelling A Curse

Hi. We got Munchkin recently and can hardly stop playing it.

Is it legal to offer someone an Item that is in play if they cancel a curse for you?

As long as you're not in combat, you may trade Items with another player not in combat. Giving an Item to someone is essentially Trading without getting an Item in return, so those are equivalently legal as long as both players are not in combat.

Are you asking if it would be legal for a player just hit by a Curse to make such an offer rather than take the Curse? Again, that would be legal, too. The amount of time spent negotiating between the players is not necessarily representative of the "in-game" time between the Curse triggering and its subsequent cancellation. All of this assumes that this a card or ability that can cancel or remove a/any Curse, and not only Curses that would affect the owner of the Item. For example, you couldn't trade for a Wishing Ring after being hit with a Curse, then use the Wishing Ring to cancel the Curse, since you need to deal with the Curse first. But, if someone played a Wishing Ring on your behalf, the Curse would be canceled. Another example: another player could not use his Sandals of Protection to prevent a Curse you found by kicking down the door.
