I consulted the Chinese oracles:

Regret.
A source of good fortune.

Urgently returning,
danger.
Without fault.

Humbleness.
Progressing.
The noble one brings things to a conlusion.
I don't entirely understand this. Perhaps PK can illuminate?

As a Major Arcana XIII is variously Strength, Justice, or Lust. Eights in the suits apparently generally are associated building/destruction.

Maybe yet another fix for Super-ST?

Where would one find this feed? Twitter's a big site.

As for speculation, 8 = 2^3, and 23 is a very important number around here. Illuminated and related abilities, perhaps?

The link in his signature would seem to be the easiest way.

Of course almost none of these suggestions are actually mathematical properties of eight.

Eight is 2^3. It's not prime (or perfect or anything else like that I can think of). In binary it is 1000. 8^2 is 16. 8^3 is 128. 8^1/2 is 2(2^1/2). It is a perfect power (specifically a perfect cube: p^3). It's the first positive integer perfect cube. It's the only perfect power that is 1 less than another perfect power (3^3-2^3=1). It's the only positive Fibonacci number (other than 1) that's a perfect cube. A cube has eight vertices. I'm not getting anything from this...

In octal it's 10. Does that help at all?

I'm not getting anything from it. :/
