Re: Battlefields KS
Based on the early spacing of stretch goals I would guess that Battlefields is approaching 2x the level of support that staff anticipated. Huzzah!

Re: Battlefields KS
On the third day, I applied the formula that has seemed to apply to other Kickstarter projects (from Doug Cole, I think) and calculated that we'd end up around 110 to 115K. So I put my (non-existent) money on $111,111 in the pool. Clearly, my calculations were inadequate. That's fine by me. :)
My guess is that, in addition to the usual last-48-hours rush, folks got Christmas money to spend and made the excellent choice of spending it on Ogre. My other, more likely, guess is that I'm bad at predicting. :)

Re: Battlefields KS
Well, this one has blown all expectations right off the map.
It's now the 5th most funded of all of SJG's twenty campaigns, and the 9th highest by backer count. It could end as high as $140K -- but I'm guessing closer to $135K. |

Re: Battlefields KS
Agreed. And we were told not to run a Kickstarter project in December because "backers won't be there to support you."

On one hand...I wonder how much support we missed because of people choosing between Ogre and Christmas presents. On the other, it got so much support and defied so many expectations that there's no questioning it...there's something special here. The second-largest Ogre kickstarter in terms of money, third-largest in terms of backer count, and is taking a stab at being #2 for both. That's pretty explicit... Amen to that. :D

Re: Battlefields KS
Wow - we're almost 350 backers and $35K above what I was expecting - I figured the $100K stretch goal was going to be tough, but I was clearly underestimating the power of the Ogre :)

Re: Battlefields KS
As I noted over on BGG: ODE had over 5500 backers, and this is the first KS campaign that is truly a full-on expansion and addition to ODE -- not an auxiliary product. The two 'Ogrezine' campaigns, the two minis campaigns (three with the rulebook), and then the retail offerings of 6E and 'Reinforcements' were great, but offered "more" -- whereas 'Battlefields' adds new content to ODE.
So if just one quarter of the original ODE backers (1375 people) support 'Battlefields', you'd see the strength shown here. |
