Default New Gnome Card

Hello,

I recently got the munchkin game and the expansions, 2, 3, 4, and 6. The new gnome card gives the gnome +1 for any non-one-shot item beginning with the letters G or N, but doesn't list any penalties for the race, the rest of the card is the same as the older style I have from 4.

Now all that makes sense and is fine. I understand what the gnome can do according to what the card says.

But the gnome from 4, an older copy doesn't list the + for one-shot items abilities above but says the gnome is at -1 to run away.

Are gnomes still at -1 to run away even if the new Gnome card doesn't say it?
I'm wondering this since on the epic rules says an Epic Gnome is a "sneaky little devil" and no longer has the run away penalty and gets two face-down treasure cards when successfully running away from combat.

So I would like some clarification. Which card is right? Do gnomes always have -1 to run away and are all Gnomes able to get the +1 for G and N items?

The new, color-inked Gnome you have is from the new printing, which has the new Gnome abilities. There's a set, called Munchkin Go Up A Level, which has replacements for your older style cards. Gnomes don't have some inherent penalty and the Epic rules are under revision to handle the reprinted cards, so your problem boils down to having bought a version of Munchkin 4 from before the new, reprinted Munchkin 4 has been released, and that card has the old Gnome abilities, and, as I said, the Epic rules are under revision so that they reflect new abilities based on the cards as they are now (since the Halfling, too, has changed, and I'm surprised you didn't ask about that, too).

I actually hadn't noticed the difference on the halfing, until now that you mentioned it.

Thank you for clearing it up. So new cards > old cards as a rule of thumb it sounds.

Any ETA on the updated epic rules?

The Gnome is the only card I didn't replace myself. In my experience the Illusion ability is so strong they deserve the penalty to fleeing.

And what is the change with the Halfling? I live in Russia and I'm not capable of buying the newest editions at the moment.

There's a change log in the FAQ that covers all the released changes.

Halfling: The Halfling no longer has a penalty to Run Away. A Halfling who fails his first Run Away attempt may discard one card to try once more.
